I'm not quite ready for the rainbow Bridge section yet but unfortunately my little nugget lost her battle this morning. After weeks of weight loss with no visible symptoms and many vet checks and the teeth looking fine, initially responding to antibiotics and gaining 100g to just loose it back plus more yesterday she stopped eating and the syringe food was around her mouth drooling out constantly. We took her to the vets where they could see some spurs and ulceration so she had a dental. Unfortunately she deterioted overnight and could not swallow or lift her head by this morning. I knew she was dying and her companions had already started their dominance dispute. We rushed her to the emergency vets where they confirmed there were no gut sounds and her temperature was low so we let her go to spare her the last stages of a natural death. Nugget was my first ever pet and it feels like the end of an era. The flags are flying at half mass today for her 💔 her remaining 2 companions are very quiet and seem to be trying to decide who out of 2 submissive piggies is going to run things in nuggets absence. We were able to bring her body back for her companions to see and once my usual vets reopen I will try to arrange cremation so we can have her ashes back in the same style box as the others. 🥺 she was always my lead piggy who thrived running a herd and welcomed every piggy she was ever asked to bond with into her group. I honestly don't know what us humans or her companions will do without her 🥺

Popcorn free Nugget

I’m sorry you’ve lost dear Nugget - what a lovely girl. You know that you gave her an amazing life ….all a piggy ever wants or needs. Altho your heart is breaking …..Nugget is popcorning freely at RB.
Take care of yourself as you get used to life without her💔

Oh I’m so sorry. Huge hugs xx Popcorn freely at the Rainbow Bridge, gorgeous girl. Go gently @Emx93. I know her loss will leave a huge hole xx

You got me crying :(
I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope everything goes good for you and your piggies. Again very sorry, sending love and support for you and the piggies. I hope all is as well as it can get in this situation. Praying for you 🙏

Thankyou everyone 💓 she leaves the biggest hole 💔 I remember bringing her and fluffy home in 2018 (from pets at home because I didn't know any better back then- i very quickly learnt when i found this forum) with a cage that was the biggest in the shop but nowhere near big enough and her instantly popcorning into my heart ❤️ she started my love for piggies and my love for animals. She's been with me through some of my hardest moments and 7 previous losses. She welcomed all my tricky piggies that had failed to bond with fear aggressive fluffy then also welcomed fluffys eventual companions when fluffy passed. She brought us so much joy and love and taught me everything I know about guinea pigs. Despite only being 4.5 she's the fur baby I've had the longest and she was very much my little girl. Tame and friendly from day 1 she had such a huge personality which she kept right up until Friday night. I only feel guilty there wasn't more we could do. It wasn't completely unexpected (her body condition was a 1- the lowest) she was very skeletal similar to mal, I did suspect she wouldn't survive recovery from the dental but I wanted to give her the chance (I'm lucky to have amazing dental savvy vets so I knew she was in the best hands). I'm unsure if my vets are open tomorrow but I'm going to try calling to see as I want to sort her cremation out as soon as possible

The rainbow bridge has been very busy this week, welcoming some very loved piggies and yours being one of them. Its so hard to say the last goodbye and will be for days to come but the love and care you gave to Nugget gave her the best life. You tried so hard for her right to the end and she would have known it. Treasure the memories when you feel ready, and take care of yourself. Sending hugs x
Popcorn free beautiful girl 🌈

I’m so sorry you lost Nugget. She was an amazing piggy. Popcorn high at the bridge. Take care. ❤️

Sleep tight little lady 🌈

I'm so sorry for your loss. She sounds like a lovely piggie. :(

Cherish those little vet prints. The vet did the same for us when we had to have our hamster Bean put to sleep and I am really thankful to have her little perfect pawprints. ((HUGS.))

So sorry to read this.
You gave Nugget such a lovely life and the very best of care.
Look after yourselves as you grieve.
Holding you in my heart ♥️
