possible new owners found....

someone will come to see the girls next week with a view to rehoming them 8..., this is really heartbreaking but at least I'm starting early and really want to find them the perfect home.

My husband said yesterday, when they come and if they take them, i'm not going back to fetch them again when you are sobbing (for anyone that remembers the Choco story..... :red)

what questions do you think I should ask them, how can i make sure they are a good home? ?/:{

with no guinea pigs, does that mean i need to leave the forum too?

Hopefully a rescue/rehomer person can help with the questions you need to ask....but in answer to your other question .... NO .....dont leave the forum..... please stay and join in with our piggy chat .... there's absolutely no reason to leave.... we'd all hate you to leave the forum

I had to rehome my piggies, and asked if I should leave the forum, and everyone was very kind and said to stay - and I'm glad I have. So please don't even think of going.

You will probably find it easier to write down what the piggies' needs are, as the number of people with experience of piggies in Greece is so low you will probably find that you are giving them new information.

The main things are the size of cage (if the pigs are not going with their own cages); food that is safe for them; not allowing unsupervised play by children or visitors; protecting them from high and low temps; vet details; websites/shops for good supplies.

The biggest criteria for me is that if they have young children that the pigs are pets for the whole family, as children's involvement can change through the life of the pigs but the pigs' needs do not, so the parents will be the main carers and are responsible for their lifelong care.

And no, you don't have to leave the forum if you are pigless!

Thank you so much for your reply, they will go with their home and the couple don't have children. They have so far adopted a stray dog, an injured frog and a stray cat, they are big animal lovers.

Its a really good idea to make a list of the key things, I hadn't thought of that mallethead, I have learnt so much from here and so I can now pass it on as well as recommending joining this forum......

I would really like to stay around so thanks for the no need to leave, i'm sure we'll have piggles again one day. xx

there is a lady in uk that brings dogs over from greece, mainly strays, but worth a shot for your spaniel? look up desperategreekies,good luck,x
 
Brilliant news about the piggies Tracey, so happy for you, i know you will be devastated but happy knowing they have a good home.

well better than he was, with training, initially he chased them but now i don't allow it. Actually he is such a good soul and listens very well, I believe he would end up snuggling with cats :(|) if we had them, why do you have an idea?

i will ask around for you, but the more i know about him the betterx hence why i asked about cats x let me know how you get on with desperate greekies
