I recently weighed my guinea pig and his weight has dropped significantly from 1300g to 1150g over the past couple weeks. We moved them inside for the winter around October and he's been living alone ever since due to the fact that he doesn't get along with any of the other pigs. He is given unlimited hay and gets the correct amount of nuggets including plenty of snacks. He doesn't appear physically ill or have symptoms of any disease. He does look slimmer and is a bigger built than the rest of my guinea pigs.

Any idea what could've caused this?

We can’t say as it would be a guess. Please start weighing him daily at the same time. Weight loss every day will mean he’s not eating enough hay. If there is a daily downward trend you will have to take him to the vet for a check.

:agr:
and in addition, step in and start syringe feeding him to stop the weight loss.

Is he still living alongside the others for interaction through the bars?

Yes we make sure he gets interaction with the others daily, he's completely fine with them as long as he's eating. I'll start syringe feeding him too :)

thank you!
