They really do and he burrowed so deeply down. He was the most stubborn, adventerous naughty guinea pig. My nickname for him was 'my naughty little s**t 'because he was such a naughty .

Thank you so much Vicki, that means a lot. He was absolutely fine and I lost him in less than 24 hours. Utterly heartbroken.
