What Do People Do When They Go On Holiday?!

I'm off to Scotland at the beginning of August and before I've relied on family to look after the piggies. Now I have 6 I didn't think it fair to rely on them so they're off on their holidays to a rescue I found through the locator at the top of the page.

We don't tend to go away much, maybe a weekend away of so, but then my neighbour (who has her own piggies) comes in to give meds, food and cuddles. If we do go for more than a weekend my furry lot go on holiday to V.I.Piggies (who are in based in Brum) but I think Tracey and Noel are amazing and my lot always come back happy. :))

If you're travelling through Cumbria on the M6, I'll keep an eye out. :))

I end up going away and the OH stays as home as he has our chins too and he hates leaving them......besides... it is his holiday away from his clucking wife with me absent and him having the house to himself lol! We did a week last year and a good friend came and stayed in our house...back then I did not have the boys however....
Reminds me of the time I had a young family, was working full time & studying at uni nights. Hubby's family lived on a farm about 3 hours drive away. As they had cattle & chickens to look after we always had to visit them Often I would beg off claiming uni assignments to finish & let hubby & son go without me. I would end up luxuriating with time to myself, reading for pleasure instead of assignments, having long bubble baths & so on. Hubby never knew this was my idea of a holiday!

Don't get me wrong I hate leaving them & fret the whole time we are away :( Unfortunately OH insists on a holiday as he works very hard all year, he looks forward to it :) I can't wait to get back to the piggies lol :)
A friend from Canada came to visit me last year for 3 months She met my piggies & pooch for the first time & fell in love with them. During her stay we went to New Zealand for a month to visit another friend of mine, whilst my animals holidayed with my son's family. On the flight back to Brissie she said "I can hardly wait to get back to the animals"!

I do miss my boys when we're away, but I know they're being spoilt rotten and I get regular updates via text from my Mum. :D

I'm happy to leave my pets down with my parents as I do a swap with animal and greenhouse sitting duties when they go away. My parents live in the village I grew up in, and are closer to my workplace than I live now so I quite enjoy house and livestock (chickens and one very acnient duck who hatched on the 1st December 1995 and is still going strong) sitting for them.

When they had the family dog and couldn't take him away with them he'd come into work with me and have a wonderful time being fussed over by all the students. I really miss him.

Wow your duck is an amazing age!

I've just had my first holiday since I got my babies! My dad became a piggie servant for the week, heh, because he is used to being a cat servant, so I guess he could cope with looking after two guinea pigs! I think he had fun trying to catch Mr Darcy! ;)

She's my brother's really. I hatched some chickens in an incubator and he hatched out the ducks. The date of the ducks hatching is easily remembered as they hatched on the day of my Great Grandmother's funeral. There were four girls originally and they all made it to 12+. Unfortunatly we lost Penny to a fox around Easter time.... but Mary, whilst a bit arthritic is still going strong.

I cant afford holidays so I dont have this problem :-) I do let friends and family leave their pets with me when they go away though

My mum looks after my 4 when I go away, otherwise if we go away together then we have a friend who also has pigs to pop in and look after them

I don't have any family nearby but I'm putting my two into small animal boarding when we go away for a long weekend next week (aah). I will report back but the lady looking after them in Sheffield used to run a guinea pig/rabbit rescue and has kept 7 pigs for herself, so i'm sure they are in good hands! £7.50 a night for two isn't toooo bad!

I have a friend who has guinea pigs and we share sitting for each other. Otherwise, they come camping with us in the camper van
