Hi, I have a question about bonding my two pigs. Here's a quick summary of them for context:
Teddy, a boar, is around 10 months old. His brother and only cagemate Loki has recently passed away (a couple of days ago).
I am planning to introduce Teddy to Noah, a 4 year old boar. Noah is currently living on his own but he had previously lived in the same cage as Teddy and Loki. They never fought, but Noah was dejected and unhappy with the two brothers around him so they were separated. Noah has lived on his own for a few months now.

If the introduction does not go well and the boars fight, would it still be okay to allow them to live in the same cage with grids separating them or would it be better to have them completely separated?

I think in their own cages but separated by a grid.
We currently have a single piggy (but are always working on getting her a friend) and she loves her interaction with the others through the grid.
She will often trot up to the grid and squeak for another guinea pig to come over and chat to her.
Then when she is done she can just move away.
It's the best of both worlds for those piggies who don't want a full time companion I think.

Thank you for the link, the article is a very good read. After a failed bonding session, I decided to keep the pigs separated by a grid. I will monitor them for a few weeks to see how they get on and if they're receiving enough stimulation from each other. Teddy regularly comes up to the bars and makes a lot of noise, but Noah is very good at ignoring him. 😥
