do you rush to pick up your animals from whoever has been caring for them while you are away?

I've been looking after some rabbits for a friend who was due back from holiday yesterday. Got a text from her this afternoon to say what a great holiday they have had and how the time has flown by. She then says will it be ok to pick bunnies up tomorrow?

To be honest i'm stunned! I hate to leave my pets and can't wait to see them again, even if I have only been away for a few days!

I'm going to South Africa next month and my dad is looking after the piggies.

I'm going to take my piggies the day before i fly as we have to go to gatwick but I'm picking them up as soon as i get back. I really don't want to leave them, but my other half is giving my dad a webcam so i can see what they are upto while I'm away :)

I couldn't do that! I'd be desperate to see my furries - and also isn't it imposing on your good nature a little? :)

Well yes, it makes me feel a little bit used! More so though it makes me feel very very sorry for the bunnies who haven't been missed! :(

Its not as though they have far to come to pick them up. They only live a couple of streets away from me. Two mins in the car if that!

I would miss my piggies so much if I went away and I would pick them up as soon as possible :(

;D Thats why all my piggers anre indoors ;D

Yeah me too! ;D These buns are outside though so unfortunately its me who will be getting wet later when I go out to feed them!

She did say when she left them that I was very welcome to keep them if I wanted! I sort of thought she was joking! :-\

Goodness me, I'd let someone pinch my husband before they pinched my piggies.. ;D

When i go on holiday i alwasy pick up my animals the day after we get back and they go to my sisters the day before we go. After all when you get back from holiday your usually tired and wanting to rest asewll as unpacking stuff to :)

LOL ;D ;D ;D

We are getting married next year and going on honeymoon and i am already panicking about leaving the bun, piggies and hamsters ! I wonder if i could sneak them in ;) :D

Does anyone want a couple of bunnies? They are very sweet - mother and daughter! Joking apart she has said she would be happy to let them go to anyone who would give them a good home. She was telling me the children just see them as just another chore (feeding and cleaning out) but are not really interested! How many times do we hear this! :( So sad! :'( They have dogs ( who are loved and cared for so much) and have just got a third one but sadly the bunnies aren't thought of in the same way.

Oh dear poor buns, i want to scream everytime i hear the kids got bored excuse >:( :'(

Me too! >:( In a way I wish I could offer them a home but I have to be realistic. I have got twenty two piggies plus Schmichael my house rabbit and I can't compromise the care I give to them by taking in anymore. I know they receive the basic necessities of life in their current home but thats as much as they get. Sadly i guess thats much better than a lot of bunnies get! The orignal owners of my bunny didn't even bother getting anyone to look after him when they went away. Left extra food and water and when that was gone.....!!!

OMG that's awful, i hate thinking of what poor animals are actually sffering right now :'(

My mam does say though that she thinks most parents who say the kids are bored actually use it as an excuse to cover themselves instead, i bet it's true in most cases asewll >:(

If I hear of anyone up your way wanting some I'll let you know. I know a lady who runs a rescue but lives in Sheffield. You could try rabbit rehome?

Thanks! :)

Just got a text to say she hasn't forgotten about them and will be round later! She has said on many occasions that she would be quite happy to let them go so if anyone is interested please let me know! Will take some pics before they go!

Oh the poor bunnies.

I am dropping our fluffies off the day before as it is 1hr away to the holiday home and we fly early morning. i know I am going to cry when I leave them, and I am desparately hoping Lucky improves next week as we go on Aug 30th and I am going to be so worried about him. :( We have considered postponing the holiday too but I don't see how we can without losing money and time off work.
I hope they won't hate me too much for putting them in a hotel for a week.. :'(

Hopefully Lucky will be fine by then - its still another 10 days! :)

Bunnies have gone home now.....also another bunny and a piggy who I have been looking after have also gone home too! Schmichael saw the girlie bunnies just before they left. Schmichael's opinion of girlies.....well one of the bunnies had bought her own ramp to fit into the hutch as it was slightly longer than the one which came with the hutch....well Schmichael was much more interested in the ramp! Give him the choice of a woman or a plank of wood and he would choose the plank of wood!! :D :D :D What does this say about my boy! ;D ;D ;D

I have a pet sitter who looks after mine at HOME where I go on holiday so I can see them straight away when I get back O0

When I went on holiday (for a mere 5 days) the first question I asked my mum when I rang home was "How are the piggies?" All those international phone calls added up even in that short time!

Mum wouldn't hold Sevi to the phone to wheek to me though, but then again I suppose she is a quiet piggie. :-\

As for the bunnies, I can't understand it either, I'd be fetching my babies straight away! :smitten:

Schmichael :o :o :o :o LOL you little character :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Debbie you've got him trained very nicely :D :D :D :D

I can't believe she wasn't around first thing.
WHen we went away i phoned my mum everyday about Duke and the moment we got home i was just itching to go collect him :smitten: :smitten:
I sobbed when i picked him up and cuddled him for the first time in 2 weeks, i'd missed him soooo much :( :(

I love my piggies to bits but to be honest when I get home from holiday I've got soooo much to sort out that it's nice to have a day to yourself to sort everything so I always pick my girlies up the day after I've got back off holiday.

It's not because I don't miss them as I miss them loads, you just sometimes need your own time and space too!

I usually pick mine up the day after but they stay at my mums she loves them as much as i do. I know they have someone there all the time and they're loved. Thats the most important thing.
