So thought I'd be nosey and see where everyone got their guinea pigs from? I got mine through a private seller who lived on a farm.

My first couple of piggies were shop bought and promptly doubled in number within weeks of their arrival. Since then I have gone strictly reputable rescue; that happened some time before I joined this forum. I am lucky to have several good rescues within easy reach, but I have rehomed piggies from all over the country, including Wales and Scotland.

My two beautiful girls came from pets at home. At the time I didn't know about rescues but if I ever get any more then I will definatly adopt them from a rescue!

Connie (RIP) was my first guinea pig. She came from a friend of a friend who's children got board of her.

Eliza came from pets at home as a companion for Connie. I didn't know much about rescues then but I wouldn't change Eliza for the world.

Eleanor came from Sokel guinea pig rescue as a companion for Eliza when Connie died.

Erin came from Sokel guinea pig rescue.

Ena came from Small paws guinea pig rescue.

I came from a friend who was unable to look after them when she left to go to uni as her mum refused to look after them.
They originally came from Pets at Home.

Most of mine came from my favourite, small, local pet shop. Two of my girls were given to me by a friend who couldn't look after them anymore (they came complete with hutch but preferred living indoors with my two girls) and my second boy was given to me by a friend who thought he was a girl when he bought him and he didn't want another boy (I went to a BBQ and came back with the cutest long haired baby guinea pig ever who teamed up with my exisiting boy beautifully).

first 2 pets at home - 3rd hobby breeder who had a lone boar she wanted to get rid of - his 2 wives from Rugby rabbit & Guinea pig rescue - the latest 2 daughters best friend who had got bored of them.

My penny and pickles came from my step sister who bought them for her two small children. She soon realised that the cage she had them in was far too small and she didn't want a bigger cage in the house, so she asked if i would like to take them.

I am so happy i did :))

My 4 were living at the back of a pub, in very small cages, inches deep in poo and wee with green slimey water bottles.
Tried for ages to get the landlord to hand them over, and finally he did.
Wasn't planning to keep them, but when i heard how many were in rescue, i decided i would.
Bought 2 nice big indoor cages for them soon fell in love with the piggies.

First piggie Goggles (RIP) as a child - from a friend whose piggie had babies :)

Fudge (RIP) and Treacle - P@H
Arnold (RIP) - P@H Adoption Centre
Casper (RIP) and Junior - P@H
Bernadette and Stewart - Milhaven Guinea Pig Rescue, as partners for Treacle and Junior respectively.

Oreo and Mollie - PetSmart
Bugs - from the trash
Sadie and Bailie - came to me from a lady who bought them on implulse from PetSmart

From the trash?!? Oh heck, thank God you found Bugs before something terrible happened :(
How does a guinea pig end up in the RUBBISH?!

My original pigs, Big Dave, Little Dave and Cardboard Box (RIP), three neutered boys, were privatey rehomed.

Jeff (neutered male) came from the RSPCA, and lives with Cameo (neutered female), who came from a rescue in mid-wales.

I signed Little Dave over to a rescue after he fell out with Big Dave and I was unable to house three pairs. He has since been paired with a lady pig, with whom he is smitten!

Big Dave went dating at Glynneath GPR in Wales, and came home with Maggie as his new lady-friend.

For me, it's rescue all the way now!

well to start i got my first ever male piggies(one mine one my sisters), from a friend of my mums, who accidently bought a pregnant sow. the next two male, brothers i got from a pet shop who we count as family. the next boar, i adopted from my sisters friend whos husband was allergic to him(the guinea pig) and sawdust.then i got my two girls from the same place as the boys.

originally crystal and minty came from a local lady and minty came with fudge, a rather surprise pregnancy that was just the one sow pup so I got to take her home too.

Flash (RIP) came from brent knoll rspca
silver came from walsall rspca
tyrian and lupin came from glynneath GPR

Fry, Nibbler (RIP), Patch (RIP) and Sneezy were all from Pets at Home before I knew any better.

Wispa came from Debbie at The Excellent Adventure Sanctuary.

Izzy and Leela came from Wendi at Thistle Cavies.

Louie came from Becklen.

Toots came from GBH Rescue in Beckenham
Jaffa came from Tracy at RNGP Welfare in Rugby

My two Rainbow Bridge piggies, Beryl and Gubbins, came from Honeybunnies Rescue in Leicester.

I got Kenny from a lady who kept rabbits and had taken in him when he wondered into her garden, his previous owners had moved and left him behind. I got Charlie from some kids that had been breeding with him, got bored and wanted snakes instead but their parents said they had to get rid of the pigs first. Neither of them cost me anything.

There is a thread about Bugs on the forum. Her story and road to recovery has been hard but now she is much better but has a very strict and limited diet on what she can and can't have.

Here is the thread
http://theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=72299

Her story is farther down the in the thread.

We got Mop and Muffin from a local pet shop (not P@H) and Mop was already pregnant when we got her. Her pregnancy was hidden by her big grey and white fur and she gave birth to two boars, Whizz and Dusty. Billy is Whizz's son with one of my friend's guinea-pigs. (She kept the babies and didn't sell them for any profit, please don't hate us! I know she wouldn't have gotten anymore guinea-pigs so it wasn't like we were robbing any of homes. She would have stayed with two if she hadn't wanted to breed Chestnut. I didn't know any better then. I didn't realise until I joined here...)

Violet and Primrose - P@H
Roxy - a garden centre near to me
Floss - a very small scale hobby breeder
Oscar - Walsall RSPCA - he was found dumped by the side of the road in a soggy cardboard box :...

Now that I know quite how many piggies are in need of a good home, I will only ever rescue again!

I pet sat ditto for my boyfriends 9 year old sister while she went on holiday, i got really attached and was so happy when they returned and his mum asked if id like to keep ditto (then named dipsy because they thought he was a she) because his sister hadnt cared for the piggy in weeks and his mum was fed up of doing the care. I promptly said yes, bought ditto a new much larger ferplast 120 cage trimmed his nails, and gave him a bath as his white markings were yellow! I introduced him to vegetables as all they had fed him was carrot and cucumber and hed never had hay just woodshavings and shredded paper. I love my partners family but his sister wasnt responsible enough to care for a pet and his mum doesnt have the time or knowledge and as a result dipsy now lovingly known as Ditto was neglected whether unintentional or not. I took ditto on and made his mum promise me she wouldnt allow either of his younger sisters to get pets until they could cope with the responsibilities of a pet. And now as you all have seen from his pigtures ditto is loves and spoilt rotten!- i just wish he wasnt a bachelor :( but weve tried boar dating and he became depressed and refused to eat and then the new piggy attacked him and that was that, hel live his days alone with my company and he seems alot happier now :) oh and he was originally a pets at home piggy hence why they thought he was a girl?!

There was also Marble, Toby, Napoleon and Rocky whom I was asked to take on by a vets, I treated their mange and Marble and now Romeo ( previously Toby ) went to members off this forum ( Liquorice_allsorts and cucumber_cuties ) and Rocky and Gethin ( previously Napoleon ) went to my mum, and are both doing very well :)
