We currently use Pillow Wad which was so good from April last year until around February this year but it’s been hit and miss since then unfortunately so looking to switch again.

Can anyone recommend what is good at the moment? Thanks :)

Hiya, I bought this Great & Small stuff from Pets Corner yesterday. Got the piggy seal of approval this morning 😅

I think you can get it online as well.

Natures Own Sweet Green is lovely at the moment. Not sure about the ordinary meadow as the last delivery would have been last years cut and was not as good as usual, unsurprisingly as it had been hanging around in a barn for a while. I've got a new order coming in the next few days I will try to remember to come back here and update!

Another vote for lovely ings hay. I also have some lovely timothy hay from hay box. Really soft and green.

Aargh! Update on this - while the first bag is ok, the second one smells nasty. I’ll be returning it for a refund tomorrow 🙁. Down to the hot weather I guess. The ones I bought a few weeks ago were lovely.

Incidentally, the timothy hay we got from the Little Hay Company recently is fresh, green and absolutely delicious (I’m reliably informed 😀)

The new delivery is really nice soft meadow.

Sorry to be forward but the ings hay - is it low dust? I am still struggling where to get a good, consistent hay supply :( I am sure it is as otherwise you won't be recommending but just want to make sure. One of my piggies is particularly sneezy when I buy hay that is a bit dusty :(

Hi, I bought some of the ings hay after reading this thread (thank you @Merab 🤗), not trusting the Great&Small stuff again for the moment.

Long strands, smells good, and it doesn’t seem dusty to me (or my son, a hayfever sufferer), but there may be some in the very bottom of the bag (2nd photo)

Also, the piggies were demanding it when I was rustling the bag for these photos, they like it a lot

Thank you. To be fair this looks less dusty than hayday. I have ordered from them and I may have thrown half of it as it was too choppy and full of fine hay dust at the bottom. I will order it now :) Thank you so much.

I’ve never had a bad batch of hay from Timothyhay.co.uk - Supplying the UK with Quailty Timothy hay
My girls love the soft Timothy hay and it’s very green and fresh
have you tried their standard timothy hay as well? :)

Yes, it’s good as well - more of a mix between soft and coarse hay. Which is fine unless your guinea pig thinks she’s in The Great Escape and buries in it, giving herself hay pokes all the i've been putting meadow hay first for my guinea pigs then timothy hay on top :) thank you, i will order these as well :)

I can second this, not dusty at all. And the pigs love it.

Sorry to jump in. I ordered some natures own via their website to see if I can use it to fill hay trays. And it confuses me that they just call it sweet green. What is it? Meadow hay? Timothy? It's not explained what type it actually is and I find it confusing. I had the sweet green hay cookies before. But never the actual hay. I have few piggies with dietary needs and wary of not knowing what type is that hay classed at for in case it has high calcium etc. I normally use several types for my guys. Meadow for hay tray diving. Then buy soft Timothy and Orchard hay from timothyhay.co.uk for feeding.

Nature Own have great customer care. When I needed them, they got back to me right away and they are really friendly, so give them a ring. They are good that way

I definitely second Timothy hay co.uk.
My piggies favourite. Great, fast and free delivery via DPD. I especially like that they post year of harvest, so you know what you're ordering. There was one batch of orchard grass that was too stalky for my guys, so switched to soft Timothy and then tried the new harvest. So much easier to keep track of the quality. My guys refused to eat haybox when I miscalculated the Christmas closure last year and it wasn't great... I switched from haybox years ago, when their quality started going down and wanted subscriptions and introduced delivery fees...

Soft Timothy from timothyhay.co.uk. Very soft. Hardly any stalks. Piggies love it.PXL_20251011_165010196.webp

Orchard grass from Timothyhay.co.uk. has more seed heads, stalks and rough leaves. Definitely great feeding hay, but wouldn't put it into hatboxes to dive into if you're worried about haypoke. I usually put it in haybags or smaller pile in the cage. Equally loved by piggies.

Sweet Green is meadow hay, greener and sweeter than their Devon Meadow hay although sweet green is also grown in Devon. They only sell small bags of Timothy as it's not a hay that grows easily in the area. It's stalky and hard, my boys don't like it. I get the Sweet Green and Devon Meadow and mix it as some of mine like one and some the other and it's easier in their pairs to just please both.

Thank you! It baffles me, like how do they know it's sweet? Who ate it?! I ordered the sweet green and Devon meadow to test them both. But great to hear it's meadow hay. Was worried about too much calcium or making them fat. Hoping I don't have to go out for 'pee pee hay' for the hay boxes if this works out. Great price, considering it's delivered, too. Sounds like it'll be nice for diving into as well. Never thought i would get this excited about hay delivery...

I get excited about a hay delivery- especially when it’s one they haven’t had before!

It arrived. Sweet Green is very soft and short strands. Seen few flowers as well. Piggies did jump in to explore. I'll still top up with the Timothy hay co.uk for their Soft Timothy and Orchard grass. But it's definitely nice for burrowing and rummaging through.

thanks for attaching photo of the orchard hay and for the description. I was considering buying this alongside the soft timothy hay for variety but i'm now sticking to soft timothy hay :p
