White Gunk In Eye?!

I know, just not sure which blomming vet to take him ha! Going to ring a couple now and see if they have anyone particularly interested in guinea pigs

Agree best to get it checked by a vet and not treat on spec. If I was to recommend any fungal product it would be Imaverol which is a dip but can be applied topically. Is your boy a skinny too? if so I know Imaverol is ok to use after patch testing.
Ok thank you, yeah he's a skinny :) Just no exotic vets near me, last place I took him they didn't have a clue and so I wasted so much money. Ringing a few now :)

I just phoned one quite close to me and she said there is one who deals with guinea pigs a lot and she has guinea pigs and skinny pigs herself. So i'm trying there and see what they are like! :)

Closest exotics to us is Derby I'm sorry to say :/ However I did have one in West Bridgeford recommended to me, it's the Rushcliffe Vet surgery, the Forest one on Gregory Blvd is ok, but I don't 100% like some of the answers he comes out with, don't use "The Vet", Vets 4 Pets.. hmm I really am not sure what to say about them because people have some not so good opinions on them, they've always been fine with our guinea's though, but they do tend to charge a bit for meds... so if you did happen to go there ask BEFORE you pay about the meds they are prescribing because as I found out with another person on the forums who paid over £40 for something she could have gotten for about £20 off of the net.

There's another on Nuthall Road, but I'm not really sure about the vet because they've only been for nail clippings but the nurse did sort out a cyst on one of the sows and didn't charge us.

I would totally go to Derby to get a good vet but unfortunately my husband is the driver and as he does not see the point in pets, has nothing to do with mine, I have no income at the moment and he thinks we spend enough on just the essentials, so it isn't going to happen :( The one I just mentioned is Castle Vetinary Centre, Castle Boulevard...

I know what you mean, non of us drive :/ so we're stuck looking for people who supposedly know about guinea's. Let us know how you get on and your thoughts on the vet please :D

Thought I'd just show a pic...was kinda h20150626_153355.webp ard though as he doesn't sit still for lap time yet, just wants to explore!:p It's the red mark above his eye...

:DIts hard to tell from the photo, but it just looks like he has grazed himself on something. Fungal skin infections often start around the face, so perhaps you should get it checked by a vet. :tu: I hope its nothing serious.

Just so you know, it's not white around his eye, just the reflection from the light as his skin is shiny :p

Yeah I think so too but have him booked in for Monday just incase :))

Hi everyone, so I went to visit my mum this weekend and she has a friend who is a vet so I cheekily got a diagnosis hehe. She said she's pretty sure it's just a scab made worse from itching and to put some aloe vera or tea tree cream on to soothe any itching so it'll hopefully heal. She helped me trim his claws so they aren't as sharp anymore so that should help too. If it doesn't clear up in a few days she said go to the vets and get some fungal treatment just incase but she wouldn't recommend the topical stuff at the moment as the scab is opening up as he's scratching it. So yeah guess I'll see in a few days...:/

Ahh at least someone's looked at my skinny piggy... I mean your Barney haha.

Lets hope it heals (his sore) so he doesn't have to visit the vets. Sending lots of hugs to Barney :D Btw your other guinea is gorgeous too, I love how Barney seems to follow him everywhere and he just doesn't seem to care :D

Haha I know it's so cute! :p Fingers crossed it heals quickly, it started to look better and then he must scratch it and made it red and sore again so hopefully the tea tree will help, just put some on now :) I actually have 2 other piggies which I will show in a video soon...I haven't so far as they are temporarily in a store bought cage and was scared of people making nasty comments about it not being big enough...they are 3 and I've had them 2 years and are the laziest pigs I know! C&C coming soon for them. Long story but they were in a DIY cage then we moved house and built the current one and got Rolo. He didn't get on with them but couldn't bare to give him up so halved the cage. Just wasn't enough room for any of them which is why I got Barney to go with Rolo so they could have the whole of the new cage and my other too are in a 100cm underneath

No need to explain :) Your a good piggie owner :) but you are right, you would get some silly comments about it.

Pics would do :D lol.

I'll show you my cages in a sec... all over the place lol.
