White Spots In Eyes?

My new-ish boar, Gus, has a little white spot in each of his eyes. He doesn't have the best vision, so I'm wondering if this could have anything to do with it. I was thinking they could be calcium deposites, too. Could being a dalmation be the cause? Not urgent, just want your opinions.

Are you sure it isn't just the way the light shines when you look? I've thought Hettie has had a white spot in her eye before but, on closer look, it was just the way the light was shining.

If in doubt I would get him checked at the Vet.

Like @*kate* mentions it could the light.

But it could be calcium deposits. I've had a few pigs with it, it tend to happen around the edge of the iris. It's nothing to worry about

Are these spots on top of the eye or inside the lens? Please check firstly whether they are caused by lighting and check the eyes from different angles and different coloured background.

If the white dots are sitting under the surface in the lens, they are cataracts and not at all uncommon. There are three types of cataracts: old age cataracts, congenital cataracts (young age cataracts due to a genetic disposition) and nuclear sclerosis when the whole inside of the lens goes opaque at once.

If they are on top of the eye surface, they are likely either osseous choristoma (bony/calcium tissue replacement) or a lipid deposit (fat based); neither of these are common. My Minx developed fatty deposits.
A calcium deposit ring around the eye (which is less rare, especially on older piggies) is called osseous metaplasia.

A growing blueish/whiteish dot/film over the eye surface is an ulcer and needs to be promptly seen by a vet as it covers an eye injury from scratch or hay poke. As eye injuries deteriorate very quickly, they need to be seen promptly by a vet. With prompt treatment chances of healing are usually very good unless the damage to the eye is too severe.

It's definitely in the lens. I took the best photos I could, but there is a glare in his eye. I'm thinking it's probably the genetic one, since he's a dalmation.
