Who Has The Biggest/heaviest Pig Competition

Looking forward to seeing some chunky piggies! Hurry up people! (My little girls are still small). Love big pigs!

If it was for the smallest pigs, then Frank might be a contender... He used to be 1600g though when we got him.

Puzzle is not now a living pig so he should not be in the competition.
His large size actually helped him to survive a serious illness. He lost a lot of weight due to it but because he had plenty to start with, he was able to come back from it and astounded the vet :) He was one tough guinea pig!
The same with my Gilbert. His heavy weight made him survive his illness whereas my skinnier pig sadly died in hours because he didn't have enough weight on him. :(

Ambam is about 1786g. The vet thinks she might have acromegaly as she is half a head taller than the average pig, diabetic and she has big feet.

I've got two boars at around the 1530g mark but Ambam makes them look tiny!

@Countrylass erm I know this is going to sound random :)) But did we meet in the vets in Wombourne the other week? You had a dental piggy with you and we may have briefly spoke about piggies before seeing Rosie the vet?

I was talking to someone in the vets about dental pigs and the giant Ambam. Did you have a tufty pig a lot like Ambam and a smooth dental pig?

@GPTV My guinea pigs look more like the one on the left.. but still well lighter.. fatten them up we must :D

Wow there are some big piggies out there! I have three dinky pigs - one adult boy at 995g, two young girlies at 850 and 900g and one big pig who is 1kg at 6 months old :) His growth has slowed down a lot recently though, so he will end up a biggie but no contender for some pigs here.

@missdoofus
ahh they sound cute :)
Ellies an absolute sweetheart.
She's 7 now &losing weight gradually, the vet says she's still a good size although not as big as she was, think the ovarian cyst is to blame :(.
Sounds like a good excuse for us all to ogle at your pretty furballs on a new thread in the photo section :))
Xx

I

I thought @Hermes might have thought we where doing this for the wrong reasons.

Yes I thought that too. But probs not, just wanted to make people aware I suppose, I wouldn't worry like you say admin would take it off if they thought it inappropriate xx

Yes, entirely for the awareness. I take no issue with the principle of the thread. It just occurred to me that we have new members on all the time who may see a thread like this and not realise they have an overweight guinea pig because it weighs the same as these and even regular members may not have questioned if their pig is a healthy weight for size. :)

I think it's down to understanding that all animals are different, just like us people and we can't judge someone by the way they look. I am on the larger side and every time I go to see the nurse/ doctor for anything they assume I have issues with my blood pressure, well I don't... My piggies are some of the lightest here I would say but they are healthy and look a normal size, so I am not worried about their weight at all!
pigs food.webp
We do like our food though! Can you make it come more quickly?

@Countrylass Small world indeed! :) How is your dental piggy?

Small world instead! I hope your piggies are ok. Daisy is back in for an x-ray on Wednesday morning. I've had to trim her teeth as the back ones were trapping her tongue. She has had mushed veggies for tea & I ended up covered in carrot after the syringe got an air bubble

They are fine thanks :) Rosie was just checking on Cookie after her dental issues the other month. I hope all goes well on Wednesday for little Daisy.

:)) Syringe feeding can be messy, we trim the end off a 1ml syringe and file it down smooth making sure the plunger can't come out, this gives more control. It was a great tip we picked up from here.
Lots of healing vibes to Daisy.

Lovely piggies! I'm glad I'm not the only one with a 5/6 month old boar who has reached 1.1kg already! My small boy is only a smidge under 1kg too!

This photo is a couple of years old now when Peter first got to go in with the girls. His weight shot up as he realised he could no longer spend a couple of hours over his veg otherwise the girls would eat it all lol
