Who has the oldest guinea pig on the forum?

No, he was with 3 other dwarfs, 4 boesmani and another kind I still have. He thought he was a molly though because he used to hang about with my group of 16. He died a few years ago. I loved him so much.

It’s funny how they find their way into your heart. I lost one of my two bettas this morning 😞. I’m gutted.

That's terrible. I lost my sailfin molly a few days ago, Asteroid, then his female, Meteorite

From 6 to 4 in two days, not doing well 🙈

Sorry about the betta x

Maybe they are just unwell. Some fish are.

I always think quality of life is more important that quantity.
totally agree a lways better to have a happy and settled piggie instead of many years of a unhappy unsettled piggie

I agree. All of mine have had good quality. Hazel died suddenly in her sleep, fine the day before and Daisy was okay up until 2 weeks before she died. I think she got upset, losing Hazel.
Rumtum was also fine one day and not the next.

I only got these guys last week so just a bit sad to have two deaths in two days!

Nitrate at 10, the only thing that’s a bit higher than the usual 5. They’re sensitive but I didn’t think that sensitive :doh:Sorry little fishies ☹️

Yes catfish are sensitive but they should be able to take a bit more than that. I have catfish and my nitrate runs higher than that (unfortunately). Is your tank planted?

We once had a horse at the barn who lived to over 36! That is about 150+ human years!
Towards the end, though, he could no longer eat solids and it became harder for him to walk long distances.
Other than that, he was healthy and passed away from natural causes. He had a best friend at the barn (a horse), and whenever they were separated, he would whinny loudly.
He was a sweet, old soul.
He is in my heart forever. 🌈

These guys are extra sensitive by the looks of it, my other catfish have definitely lived in more than that too! Yes I’ve got lots of plants.
Wondering if it’s just because they’re still so new and pretty young, but surely it would have been in the first few days succumbing to stress and not over a week later! Can see these guys causing me trouble!

My rainbow Bridge piggy Ellie was 8yrs old.

I only have Orca who's a golden oldie, she's around 6.5 yrs now. I've had her 5yrs, she's one of the most snuggly, cuddly pigs I've had-loves her fuss & chinny tickles

The other 3 girls are all approx. 2yrs old.
Generally 4-5yrs old has been my average aged Guinea though.

I had a Labrador X dog who was just under 17 when he crossed rainbow Bridge :(

Also an outdoor goldfish for 26yrs, but Aristotle my bristle nosed catfish is my oldest pet ever, I've had him since March 1992 which makes him at least 28yrs old :fog:

None of my pets are insured now, but I put a bit back into a vet fund every month. :tu:

Go Aristotle and goldie! 🥳What brilliant ages! Any pics of Aristotle?!
Having a bad day and would definitely cheer me up! :Dxx

These are from Nov last year, he's hiding at the moment
I think he may be a she, as his bristles aren't all that spectacular, but Aristotle as a name had stuck by the time the bristles came along!
Hope this brightens your day ☀ xx_20200614_145047.webp_20200614_144925.webp_20200614_144838.webp
I think the male Rosy Barb is about 7yrs old, maybe older.

My old Labbie X

I have a photo somewhere of my old goldfish, he changed from mostly gold & white in his younger days to mostly white as he got older, his skin thinned and he had a slightly dinosaur looking appearance as he got in his 20's :luv:

Stunning! Yeah looks female to me too, the boys have got such whopping bristles!

My rehomed goldie Arnie is in fact female but no change to the name, 12 years of Arnie (she’s at least 14) and that’s how she’ll stay :)) Sadly struggling to eat because of her cauliflower disease atm (had when i got her and stuck for life!), a huge lump taken over her ‘nose’ so I’ve been contemplating having to do horrible stuff but the ‘fish expert’ I’ve been talking to said not to worry for now while she’s still eating and not too stressed out.

Looks horrendous bless her. Because technically tumours I cant really do much, just go on quality of life now ☹And can’t have her favourite romaine lettuce leaf to chew on throughout the day for fun anymore!

And two of my new baby Red Lizard (or whiptail) Catfish have died in two days, Jess is bleeding from lady parts and I’m in a bit of a tearful tither!
So thank you, all those pics cheered me up! But Aristotle is amazing! In love! xx

Peanut's 5.5 now. When his lifelong friend Spike was PTS in December I thought he would go downhill, he was a bit quiet to start with but I bonded him with Rusty and he hasn't looked back. Fingers crossed he's with us for a few more years yet.

Mine aren't the oldest ... maybe I have the youngest?
I have... 2 that will be 4 next month,
One 1.5 year old,
Two 7 month olds,
One 5 month olds,
One 9 week old.

New here and don’t have any guinea pigs yet but I have 3 budgies, 1 is now nearly 10 and showing no signs of being an old man!

I had a Hammy the hamster too when I was little, I found him in our garden. We had him for 2 years. My eldest piggy was Boris he lived to 7 years and 2weeks.
Fred and George are my oldest pair (brothers) at 6 and 6 1/2 years.
All my other piggies have been around 5-6 Years apart from one who passed suddenly at 3 months. We had only had him a few weeks and felt terrible.x
