Enoch has red lumps on the bottom of his eye just above his bottom eye lid.

He went to the vets yesterday (thankfully I already had an appointment for Eliza). The vet did the dye test but couldn't see any foreign bodies, his eye hasn't ulcerated and there is no sign of injury although it was watery and sore looking.

He has been prescribed chloramphenicol eye drops 0.5% to be given several times a day for conjunctivitis. I have never used these drops before as I have always been given fucithalmic previously.

I have just got home from work and he now has these lumps which I have never seen before :(

He is acting perfectly fine but so was Eliza when she had her eye injury :(

Does anybody know what the lumps are and when I should see an improvement? I'm worried :(

Apologies that the photo has came out sideways. I don't know why it does that.

Oh no! Poor Enoch and poor you. I know you will be very worried. It is reassuring the vet did not seem concerned. Hopefully somebody will have had experience of this and be able to advice you.

Thank you. He is back at the vets next Thursday. It should have been on Monday but it is a joint appointment for both him and Eliza but my vet is on holiday Monday - Wednesday although I will take him back sooner if necessary

Merlins eye went the same and he had conjunctivitis, had the same little red bobbles. They went down after 2 weeks of antibiotic cream and had no problems since :)

Thank you. Hopefully it is all normal then and is part of the condition.

On closer inspection, the fleshly lumps aren't on his actual eyeball but coming off the eye lid.

Did Merlin have anything else or just the eye drops?

Hi. You said the lumps are coming from the eyelid. About 18mths ago Maisie had a red lump growing from the lid and she was prescribed fucathalmic and it disappeared. After about 6 months it reappeared and continued to grow even with treatment and in the end because it grew so large the vet decided to remove it. A very quick op with no complications. The vet gave it a fancy name which I cant remember but basically just a polyp.

Thank you. As far as I can see the lumps are growing from the eyelid.

I am still unsure why my vet prescribed chloramphenicol rather than fucithalmic but I guess they're still antibiotic eye drops and his eye is less watery and sore looking than it was yesterday.

I'm glad it doesn't look like anything too serious.

Poor Enoch, I'm sorry you've now got cause to be concerned about him. Hopefully this treatment (even if it's not one you've used before) will do the trick.
