My piggy Tiberius has passed away tonight from pneumonia and I'm wondering how likely is it that his brother Septimus could be sick also? I separated them Sunday cause I had noticed him feeling ill and then Monday I took him to the vet and I guess it was too late because my little guy has left me... I'm worried that Sepi may be sick or get sick. What should I do?

@CharleneN I'm very sorry for your loss.

Just keep a close eye on him, and weigh him regularly at the same time of day. If he shows any signs of a problem then go to the vet

If you're overly worried you can take him to a good guinea pig vet for a wellness check now.

It is unlikely that Septimus has a URI too, but it's always best to be vigilant when you've just lost a piggy.

Can't add much more than Jaycee but so sorry for your loss.

Thank you, I am definitely gonna weigh him regularly. We don't have very good vets for guinea pigs, most places don't see exotics around me.

A good vets is not always an exotics vet. If you can let us know a rough location other members might be able to suggest vets. The vets I use most often doesn't have an exotics specialist but all the vets there have an interest in small animals and they are all quite knowledgeable

Very few if any, exotic Vets in Scotland but the Vets I changed to recently have been excellent. Not only do they seem to LIKE piggies but have a great bedside manner with the owners.

I live in Las Vegas, the vet I go to know's some about piggies but they aren't always available cause of the whole being exotic animal.
