Senior Guinea Pig
fred has only pooed six times today and his tummy keeps rumbling is this normal he is eating! i suppose he could be eating his poo's am i just being paranoid?
he seems to have moved his corner i found some more poo about twelve, but they were all slimie! he was actin weird when he was out he wasnt just takin the veg it was like he was just move it certain way before eatin it!
He didn't run out of food or hay at all? Sounds like a hungry guinea who has not eaten enough, but if he didn't run out of food then quite why he's acting like this is slightly confusing.
And, stating the obvious, fresh poops will look wet - much more so if he's peed on them as well!![]()
He is however losing weight and therefore that together with the rumbly tummy could be the early signs of dental problems - my Grommie has to have his molars done every 4-5 months and a slight weight loss and windy tummy is the first sign....might be worth getting a cavy savvy vet or rodentologist to check his molars
Other things that might cause windy tummies in some of my pigs are prepacked green veg that has been in the fridge for a couple of days and may contain an odd bit "on the turn"........and some don;t respond well to starchier root veggies. For windy pigs, I normally remove veggies for a couple of days, leaving only hay and pellets and then feed them Recovery with probioitic and Vit C off a spoon - seems to get them back on course.
Hope he's providing you with a pile of little presents soon
