She took her staright to the vet who decided to remove the eye! apparantly it was clean all behind but the eye was not saveable :(

I went up there this afternoon and had a quick cuddle with Wotsit who came through her operation well. Her future yet is undecided whether to keep her as a sponsor or find her the perfect partner for rehome

Oh no. Poor Wotsit and such a shock for Helen. I hope Wotsit heals quickly. Sending hugs to everyone. x

Oh my, bless her little heart! What a complete bolt from the blue for both Wotsit and Helen - what a day it has been for you all.

Did the vet say what caused the eye problem? Nasty hay poke, or something that was maybe brewing inside and ruptured overnight?

Poor Wotsit. :( Sending lots of love to her. xx

poor thing! fingers crossed for a full recovery. I think wotsit might need a new pirate name and a patch!

Erm if I remember rightly it was either a rupture or hard blow to the head/caught it on something the vet said. She was in a with a young Sheltie sow who wouldn't have caused this.
I do feel for this sow as she has been through alot already and was looking for a new home :(

Aww poor Wotsit - how awful for her. I hope she recovers quickly and is ok. We have a soft spot for Wotsit and we are so sorry to hear about her injury.

We are sending lots of hugs to her and we hope she will be okay.:(

Poor girlie, I hope she adapts quickly. It seems so sad seeing a piggie like this but I guess they are more resilient than we are when it comes to this sort of thing.

Mojules send their get well wishes to Wotsit wheek wheek x

Well she seems fin e in her self and was eating when I was there :)

Hope poor wotsit recovers well Helen :(
You have had a nightmare day (((HUGS)))

Helens had it rough again ... maybe the pigs could treat her to a pamper session :))

lots of hugs for Wotsit such a shock for everyone

sending good vibes her way xx

Maybe Wotsit wants to stay with Helen forever and it was all a cunning plan to become a sponsor piggie! :))

She is a lovely looking piggle and once healed I'm sure someone will still give her a loving home. Wishing her a speedy recovery xx

Wishing wotsit a swift recovery! Hope someone can overlook her disability and give her the wonderful home she deserves!

OMG I hope it looks worse than it actually is! What a nasty shock for you all. Hope it heals well and she copes with it all no problem.

wotsit

Oh no poor Wotsit. Must admit to having a bit of a soft spot for her from when I first saw her on the becklen website. If I had room for a 3rd piggy I certainly wouldn't be put off adopting her because of her injury and I'm sure other people will see past this too, because she's such a lovley piggy.
healing hugs being sent to you Wotsit and a hug for helen after your horrible day.

Oh my what a gorgeous girly pig, I have fallen in love, poor little love :(

If she is going to be for adoption, I would 100% be interested in giving her,her forever home.

I currently have 3 piggies, a boar and 2 sows and have been thinking about adopting another sow.

Do I have to be in the area? I live in Kent

Aww, poor little Wotsit! I hope she's not uncomfortable and that she'll soon learn to live with one eye. She's beautiful!

She needs some pirate fleece accessories, methinks! Arrrrrr!

Thanks all. Yes it was a horrific day - what with Paloma, Wotsit and then Paddy (new thread) -

Wotsit is doing really well. She ate all her carrots/parsley/cabbage during the night and has taken water. She will be just fine.

Kirsten my vet said the eye, in her opinion had ruptured - the cause is not known but she thought it unlikely to be caused by hay or the small baby who was in with her. Trauma of course can cause the eyeball to rupture but this can happen due to a build up of pressure behind the eye.

Suffice to say, however it happened, she is going to be just fine.

Helen.
