I’m having a really difficult night tonight, thinking about my Odin. It hits me in huge waves and it hurts all over again that he’s gone 💔💔💔

in an attempt to cheer me up (distract me from my grief for a while), I challenge you all to post your favourite ever picture you have taken of your piggie/piggies (any pig, any photo, but ONLY ONE).... difficult challenge I know!

Wow this was soooooo hard! But I choose this one of my Pepper....people don't take much notice ot her because she's quiet and looks a bit like a brown potato. But this picture shows what you see if you look properly and how beautiful she really is.

Can I post another one now?!

I'm so sorry for how you are feeling..💔 I've been in the same situation every time a piggy of mine would passed away. They all have a special place in my heart. I still remember every special memories I have with each of them. And I still miss them terribly whenever I think of them.

Anyway, I have loads of favourite photos of my past and present piggies (I've had 9 all in all now). But this one with my Bunny always make me smile. She's the one who always enjoyed cuddles with me, well tolerated me for more then 10mins. 😁

Thank you so much for your kind words 💖 and what a beautiful piggie! My Odin was definitely a cuddly one too 🥰

This is a hard one but I think this one is my favourite 20201022_101708.jpg
This is Nicklaus.
We rehomed him in October, his age is unknown and he was our first piggie (the person who had him didn't have room for 2 cages as him and his fellow boar fell out so she gave him up to a rescue).
We now have 6 piggies with 2 more we're taking in at the weekend (we're also on pregnancy watch due to Hayley coming from a breeder and our intact boys getting in with the girls and Nicklaus about a month ago).
Luckily this picture was taken before my puppy broke my phone!

My daughter renamed him from Hog to Nicklaus....her love for the Vampire Diaries and the Originals is unbelievable 😂😳 we rehomed a Syrian hamster yesterday who is now called Marcellus (she's a girl!). The 2 guinea pigs we're rehoming at the weekend are girls and she wants to rename them Rebekah and Katharine....

Omg... love it! 😂😂😍 I also love vampire diaries (but mostly the originals). My favourite show is Supernatural though, hence the names of my new boys 😂

Sending you hugs @Bradshaw Piggies I know how you feel.
This is one of my favourite pictures of my heart pig Spike, we lost him to pneumonia on December 9th 2019 after a 6 month battle with a persistent URI. He loved hay cubes and would attack it until it was just right to sleep in. I still expect to see him in the mornings when I go to feed the boys. I've not bought a hay cube since he's been gone, somehow it doesn't seem right.

Thank you for your kind words. I’m sending love to you all also. It’s so hard. There are even certain objects in my house that I don’t use any more (like his weighing scales - I bought new ones) because it’s just too painful.
Lovely picture of your gorgeous boy ❤️

What a lovely thread idea! I can’t imagine what you are going through but I know I would be exactly the same if I lost one of the boys.
As for my favourite picture this is going to be very hard I only take about 20 of them a day!
I think it has to be this one I love his little smile!

I am sooo very sorry. I grieve for your loss.

A number of years I awoke to one of mine screaming (crying) to find her sister had just died. I was sad but she was old and not surprising. I took her out of the yard, then her sister immediately turned to the back wall and would not move.

OK, I thought she needs to grieve, except she stayed there the next day and the next and the next. She stopped eating. I have seen cattle do this and now I was worried.

I took her out pulled out an old coat and kept her with me day and night. stroking her during the day and making sure I had my hand touching her through the night. I finally got her to eat with a mashed up pellets in my hand and pressing them in front of her nose.

It took a month. She had lost so much weight over that time, skin and bones. It was fortunate I was self-employed and it was the slow part of the year.
That was 4 years ago. It took so much out of me, yet made us so close. I got 3 more girls to make a herd. She is now happier now with 3 young ones around her.

I know it can hurt. I have had many guinea pigs. The sister finally died, and I still get sad I think of them.

For me moving from a pair to a small herd helped. I now have a big tri-level yard and playground with an apartment. Having four really helps. every single guinea pig I have had all have unique personalities
