Your favourite cage liners/cage pads/pee pads

I forgot to say I use noodle mats near the hay area too. The hay comes off them so easily, unlike the vet bed I'm having to use for Nugget at the moment!

I use waterproof mattress protector cut to size of my c&c cage and then I use bobble bath mats. I use 5 for my cage. I stitched two together and then three together.

I spot clean twice a day. I have a small hand held hoover which picks up all their poop and then the hay sweeps off the mats super easy too.

I have two sets so clean out day is easy.

How often do you wash them and do you have paper or puppy pads under them?
I use pets at home puppy training pads underneath (100 for £14.99). They get changed out as often as needed (some weekly, others daily!). I totally change out the mats every week - a good shake outside and then a hot wash with vinegar and they're good as new! I have three sets so rotate them round, I probably replace each set every 6 months or so (mostly because I get bored of the colours!)

I use bath mats and vet bed currently but Lola doesn’t seem to sleep on the bath mats. They like vet bed but it’s a bit of a pain so I wondered if fleece pads might be worth a try :)

I use unprinted newsprint as my first layer (I buy whatever the cheapest large sketch pads are, since they're easy to store and tear out). On top of that, I use bath towels that have been cut and hemmed to desired my size, and then fleece mats that we made (they're just two layers of fleece with finished edge and one rectangle of quilting). When I clean cages, I dump any debris (hay bits and whatever poo is there since previous scoop) onto the paper layer, which I can then ball up and throw in trash. Fleece and towels get put in paper bags to go outside for shaking. I like my fleece separate from the towels because it makes the fleece light and easy to shake, and Latte likes her fleece separate from the towels so she can rearrange it while still having a towel to run on. [She also gets a mini-mat (8"x8" or 10"x15" fleece) in hopes she plays with that more than her primary mat.]

Noodle bath mats from B&M or Home Bargains over B&M puppy pads are my first choice. While I’ve been running the maternity wing from the school rescue I’ve had to use a variety of floor coverings. I’ve got much vet fleece for my 140 cage. I love how quickly it dries but getting the hay off is a pain. I also use simple fleece blankets/throws folded to size over puppy pads. They also dry quickly but the hay can stick to some of them.

We use vinyl flooring for the base of the cage, and then there are various mats placed around the cage that I made myself. Each one has a layer of fleece and two layers of towel. They don't cover the whole floor, most of the vinyl is uncovered, but the mats provide comfy patches. They sit on them, sleep on them, burrow under them and throw them around! They can also be used to quickly mop up spills.

In the hay trays we use a couple of layers of newspaper, a layer of wood-based cat litter and then the hay on top.

They do most of their peeing in the hay trays, and the rest on the mats, conveniently enough!

I have liked the guineadad linings and have a closet full of them. And noodle rugs in certain areas too. It’s a lot of laundry and it saved a lot long term from not having go buy bedding. Which also works. :) the bath rugs need to be replaced more often. I have yet to replace a Guinea dad after many washes.

Another vote for noodle mats over plain fleece fabric ( doubled over) on top of B&M puppy pads. I find the areas under the noddle mats rarely get wet so the puppy pads last much longer, thankfully, as I don't like the idea of plastic waste. The mats make it so easy to do my daily clean, I just shake them into the bin.

A full load of fleece and mats fills my washing machine, otherwise I might consider permanent puppy pad equivalents, but I don't want to do any more laundry.
