I would ring in sick to work if it was me to be honest, I usually do get very anxious when mine are poorly anyway x

@Poppy'sMum I text my boss to say I won't be in and I'll ring if needed. She just said not to worry, piggy is priority and we'll sort out sick day/holiday/whatever when I'm back in.

That has made me feel a bit better.

Plus now that I have the appointment sorted I can get up and go first thing

That's great then :) Luckily I have an understanding boss too, so usually I'll get to leave early or start later if I have an urgent vet appointment. Good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you x

I did @furryfriends (TEAS) . After a detailed checkup and a good chat with him we decided having him PTS was the kindest option. There was no further treatment we could try and Simon was sure it was neurological based, not bloat as he said he felt quite good and not in pain. He expressed the biggest wee out of him too, so we think the brain issue affected his internal muscles as well as his legs and head.

I had thought similar as he wasn't showing signs of his usual bloat symptoms other than his tummy getting bigger.

I had a good old cry and then took him to the wonderful cremation service I use and he's going to be scattered along with his best buddy Arnold, whose ashes I keep for this occasion.

I thought it sounded neurological. I had a piggy here a few years ago who presented with the same symptoms. He couldn't empty his own bladder and I had to express it for him. He lost the use of his back legs and then the front ones started going too. Very sad, but Anselmo had a very long life and the very best care a piggy could have. Did you get him as a young piggy? Some piggies really capture your heart and I know he was very special to you x

@furryfriends (TEAS) I got him in June 2010 and we think he was about 8months old.

His long life and him having the best that we could provide was one of the reasons we decided to let him go. He outlived all of his cagemates and in his condition he wouldn't be able to enjoy the two things he loved, eating and sleeping.

Thanks for being so supportive over the past few days xx

It is always difficult to make the decision to let them go, especially when you love them so much, but when they can no longer do the things they love doing, then it is the kindest thing to do, as you would only be keeping them going for yourself. When they have had such a lovely long life, you don't want the last bit of it to be crap. Sending hugs x
