Betsy - Shaking Piggy

Come on Betsy stop playing your mum up, healing vibes being sent your way & i hope you get used to all the tapping before you're whisked into the air for cuddles
@Pound Shilling & Pig That's a brilliant idea, i give my dog hand signals as well as verbal ones, as it was so much easier when my first dog went deaf, he could still work out what he was required to do.

Speedy recovery. xx

Oh poor you and Betsy. Glad it’s not too serious. I had a piggy who went blind through having too much calcium in her eyes (long story, similar to bladder stone crystals but in her eyes) but she coped so incredibly well. Her husboar protected her and I just made sure I didn’t change her accommodation around. I never saw her bump into anything and she was a very happy girl. Sending some gentle healing vibes to make sure it doesn’t happen again!

Oh you poor thing, how worrying! I hope yourself and Betsy are doing okay after such a big shock. I'm ashamed to say I've only just caught up with this thread to I apologise for my lateness!

Has she ever chirped before? I once thought Cissy was having some sort of fit but as it happens she was preparing to chirp and was just being a bit dramatic about it. They often breathe rapidly, almost rocking backwards and forwards and it looks quite disturbing. I just wondered if it could be that if she's had a clean bill of health. I'm glad she's okay :)

I'm glad she seems to be doing okay, besides her vision. One of my pigs, Sundae, developed cataracts in her later years. There was an adjustment period where it was clear that she did not see well (she would misjudge distances and stumble into things, she would spook randomly, she would sometimes run into things), but once she adjusted you really wouldn't have known that she couldn't see, except that she developed a habit of standing on her front 'tiptoes' with her head up to either listen or sniff things, which she hadn't done before. But I was impressed how well she learned to navigate her surroundings.

No she doesn't chirp she was shaking violently from side to side as she was leaning against the food bowl. It was like the food bowl was holding her up.

How’s Betsy this morning?
And how are you after yesterday’s anxiety?
Betsy seems non the worse for her experience thanks Heather. I on the other hand am on "Betsy watch". I am now taking @Pound Shilling & Pig's advice of tapping the ground near her before I pick her up which is much better for her and this morning she ran off which I take to be a positive thing. I am now talking to her constantly and giving her some dandelion leaves so that she realises that being picked up is a good thing and hopefully not scary. She didn't bite me this morning for the first time in ages so I think I'm beginning not to scare her. Tom has been told how to handle her too.

Sorry i've only just caught up! So glad it was nothing serious Jacky, she just wanted to panic you, naughty piggy! Hugs to you! xx

I knoooow, how could I forget that handsome little guy! It was funny because I was sure I missed one but could not put my finger on it in the original count post.
And here I was thinking Christian was your favourite of my piggies!

He is! Maybe I didn’t count him as one of yours because I’m plotting to make him mine?

Hi Jacky I’m away for a few days so I haven’t been on here for a little while & I’m just catching up now. Just wanted to send love & hugs to you & Betsy

Thanks Kath! Betsy is all back to normal now except for the cataracts. Put some hazel leaves in the run this morning and she took a bit time to react. Only started to move when she heard the others squeaking with excitement. Then I had to put some in front of her cos she couldn't see them. Bless her. She is still my favourite piggy :love:. It's not her fault she can't see properly.

Did you go anywhere exciting?
