Betsy's Guinea Pigs

Bramble and Saxon have a friendship that's getting stronger. It's very sweet to see them getting closer every day. Wherever Saxon is Bramble isn't far behind and wherever Bramble is Saxon isn't far behind. Both Misty and Bramble are letting Saxon take the lead in whether it's safe to be out and about or not. Saxon is a very happy go lucky, cheeky chappy who is getting more confident every day. I can tell he's a lovely boy who is just going to get lovelier as he matures.
Awwwwwwww

Bramble and Misty used to treat tomato like it was poison. It turns out that it's their new fave veg! Saxon likes it so of course so do they. Now. I discovered that Saxon liked a bit of marto cos I had some on a side salad when we went out to lunch today. I don't like it so I carefully wrapped it up in a napkin to see if Saxon liked it. I gave Saxon a bit of cherry tomato and after a quick sniff he snaffled it up quickly before Bramble could eat it. Then I gave a bit each to Misty and Bramble and they ate it too. I've not had a piggie liking marto since Dennis went to the Rainbow Bridge 6 years ago.

Ah that’s so sweet - you have a lovely boar Saxon

Saxon is such gentle soul. He wasn't sure whether to like his morning cuddle or not today. After the usual game of catch me if you can, I sat down in the piggy cuddling chair, (Yes I have one of those!) Saxon was purring and teeth chattering at the same time as I was stroking him. Then he started to attack my piggy apron with his teeth to let me know that it's coriander time.

Before Saxon arrived, Misty and Bramble used to bimble around their run quite happily until I went into the garage and popped them back in the hutch for their veggie dindins. Now just Misty bimbles. Bramble and Saxon start to stare out of the side of the run waiting for me to arrive for about an hour before veggie dindins. I don't make the mistake of going in the garage early anymore or these 2 small potatoes make me feel really guilty about not giving them veggies. Veggie dindins is anywhere between 4pm and 5pm. They line up at the run at around 3pm just staring out hoping their thoughts will transmogrify into my brain and I'll arrive with dindins early.

Bandit and Lili are expert at staring - “I can control you with the power of my mind”
(Minx just looks sad 🥺)

 Bramble went into full Shop Steward mode this afternoon as veggie dindins was 5 minutes late! Veggie dindins is served between 4 and 5pm.

OH and I went for a walk as it was such a lovely afternoon and didn't get back until 5pm. I immediately cut up the veggies and went into the garage. Bramble was so annoyed that she immediately jumped onto the wooden hut in the run and glared at me! She has never done that before she usually just stares along with Saxon. I put them all in the hutch and gave them veggie dindins. I think I'm in trouble.:yikes:

Am I afraid?🤔 You bet I am!

Oh dear - what possible penance is there for that crime.
Being late with veggie dindins 😤😤😤😤😤😤

Miriam and Moses have had a discussion and decided that it’s 15 Hail Marys, 15 Lord’s Prayers and carrots every day for a month.
Remind them that it's Lent so carrot treats are off. 🚫🥕
Or does @Betsy have to eat the carrots as well as doing the Hail Mary's etc?

Maybe @Betsy will be forced to eat EGGS as punishment even tho it is Lent.
I was forced to eat an egg when I was about 7 at school by a horrible dinner lady even though my Mum had been to the school and told the Headmaster that I wasn't to eat them. The dinner lady held my nose until I had to open my mouth to breathe and popped the egg into my mouth, forced my jaw up and down so that I would chew the egg, then tipped my head back and massaged my throat until I swallowed it. I could have been allergic to eggs for all she knew. That is why they are EVIL!

@Betsy that is child abuse and I’m sorry you had to experience that ! I’m shocked that she did that 😪

The nightmare I had been anticipating happened this morning - Saxon got a bit of hay in his eye. My immediate thoughts were "Great how am I going to get that out with a guinea pig who isn't used to being handled all that much yet?" I sat down with him in the cuddle chair and attempted to get the hay out. He was having none of it and would have nipped me if I hadn't been ready for it. So I popped him in a snuggle sack and put him on the table. I lifted his front half gently out of the snuggle sack and pulled down his eyelid ready for me to attempt to get out the hay and at the precise moment, Saxon shook his head and the hay came flying out of his eye. Talk about good timing. I'm so glad that we managed to get the hay out or it would have been a vet trip tomorrow which would've been very stressful for him.
