Ok so I have a problem that I believe is connected to the whole stressed pig thing. Button gets wet soggy poo once every week or two. First time I noticed it was stress was when we had tried bonding her and the boy several weeks ago and then she was super stressed through the bars and we had to seperate the cages. Her poo was very very squishy and little ‘coffee’ stains on the fleece. I did not want to stress her further so we did not withhold her veg. By the next day her poo was normal again. About a week ago my brother held the new little girl (who lives with the boy) on the boys towel before glutting her away and cuddling button on buttons towel. He thought this would be ok but she sniffed a lot got agitated and bit him hard through the towel. So he learned not to handle the boy or his friend before button. (I was not around or would have advised him it would not be a good idea). Again buttons poo was soft for a day, again I did not want to stress her so kept giving her veg and next day her poo was normal. Yesterday (and once every two weeks) buttons cagemate must have been in heat. She was doing the boss pig dance all day and button was doing it back all day. (This happens every two weeks). Today buttons poos are very squishy and little ‘coffee’ poo stains around. Do you suggest I withhold her veg every time she gets a stress related soft poo (which could be as much as twice a week) or do you advise waiting a day to see if the poo is still soft and if it is THEN withhold the veg? It appears to me to be completely stresss related, and as she gets very agitated looking for veg if it is withheld will this make the problem worse? I also don’t want her to be mineral deficient if she has so many days without any veg! I know she is a stress head, and we do all we can to keep the stress down, the cages are as far apart as we can get them. And her cagemate will always get boisterous when in heat so I can’t stop those stresses. Is there anything you can advise me to help her calm down? She is a doll when you cuddle her, it’s like she knows she doesn’t have to be boss and can be a baby and she is just the babiest cuddly pig you could imagine, she likes to really nestle down head on its side. She even likes baths, I think just because she is being held! She starts squeaking happily before you pick her up in anticipation of the cuddle!
