My Bercy is repeatedly doing this motion as if he has something stuck in his mouth (molars?) he wants to get out. He’s been doing it since this morning and it’s just before midnight now. He is still eating, drinking and using the bathroom as normal and still has energy. Completely his normal self besides the chewing motion. I did not see anything while gently poking at his mouth (did not overdo it as I am of course not a vet). His vet appointment is for Monday, and I’m wondering (of course given he continues to eat/poop as normal) if that’s too far away, or is this emergent? Photos are very silly but this is what he’s doing. Would love and appreciate any thoughts/advice

If you can get him seen sooner by an exotics vet, it would be better. Weighing him to monitor his food intake is important. He may need a molar tooth trim, so the sooner he gets seen the better. He may need syringe feeding to prevent stasis if his hay intake isn't enough. Poor boy, he does look uncomfortable 🙏

Thank you! I have critical care ready and am weighing him 2-3x a day to make sure he’s stable. He’s munching away right now and seems happy… I’d love to bring him sooner my entire county doesn’t have any emergency vets that see exotics … eye roll. If his weight drops I guess we’ll need a road trip but fingers crossed

Please don’t weigh that many times a day - it picks up so much fluctuation that it makes it completely unreliable. He is going to weigh more as the day goes on so it gives you a very inaccurate picture.

Only weigh once a day - first thing in the morning - and then compare that weight to the previous morning.
