So, I went into the garage today and felt something was very wrong. I looked down and there's a grid on two seperate cages pushed forwards, and there around my feet, is pip, Lilly, Karmina and Perry doing a very happy little mating dance.... :o

Holy. Crap. I may have 4-6 new guineapigs on their way.....

being really thick that could leave you with 2 pregant piggies could in it?

naughty little piggies, might be the patter of tiny feet soon..{:|{:|

You really make life difficult for yourself don't you! Am I understanding this correctly? Piggies have escaped from two separate cages?

Yes, I dont like to do things the easy way ;) My mum always says there's the easy way, the hard way and then the way Alex will do it.

Yep, boys and girls, none neutered.

I worked out what they did - they must have nommed the cable ties, so i've put about six on the same panel so if they chew one off they've got more to get through and I will notice is before they get there.

They're in c&C's x

I hope that if they are pregnant everything runs smoothly and you can find good homes for the babies, also that the pregnancies are a one off!

Good luck. :)

How on earth have they managed that and at the same time! When I dismantled mine it took ages to get my scissors through it to cut the ties! Naughty piggies!

That's some precise nibbling by them to achieve an escape!

Really hope those piggies are not pregnant for all the obvious reasons and the worry of extra costs on * x

That's what I thought, but it's the only possible way! It takes me about half hour to dismantel one of those cages 0.0 x

Unbelievable! Let's just hope they aren't pregnant.

Thats some pretty determind pigs there, I managed to break a pair of scissors taking some cable ties off the other day because I couldn't find the stanley knife. I do hope that your girls are not on a first litter over a year old? C-sections cost a small fortune and are not pleasant things to have to go through for the pig or yourself. So many unwanted piggies in the world. I assume that the 2 pairs that escaped are 2 boys and 2 girls? If thats the case, I'm suprised you've not had fighting, I've never come across 2 boys that will live happily in the presence of girls after the hormones start to kick in. Good luck with it all.

Bad luck indeed..i hope nothing comes of it.

I have to use wire cutters to cut my ties.

I am in awe too, but it's the only way.

Only the other day, you wanted more pets and were asking people to put you off because of your financial situation, I hope you will be able to take the strain, if indeed the girlies are pregnant !
I am still a a loss as to how Guinea Pigs can gnaw through multiple cable ties !

male guinea pigs can also climb when pursuing females. I once looked after two males for a friend (I had three females at the time). My friends kept their pigs in a very small cage. One of the piggies jumped up sooo much that he actually flipped the top off the cage and then climbed out. Fortunately, my girls were in an outdoor run at the time.

This was the cage: http://www.countrysmiths.co.uk/prod...avic-Rody-Cavia-Guinea-Pig-Cage&PARTNER=Acorn

I would not keep boys in a C+C alongside girls unless it had a lid: it would be too easy for them to climb out.

would also be careful about keeping boars next to sows in a c&c set up as it can cause the boars to fight so you then end up with 2 singal boars with injuries x

haha wow. i dont know if I'm more impressed that the pigs managed to use physical prowess to escape, or that they were smart enough to chew through everything to get out (i know pigs are smart, but still!). Either way, good luck with the possible pregnancies, and now that you know what those naughty pigs are capable of, you can adjust their set up! xx

Actually, it had nothing to do with my financial situation. It was to do with the lack of space. and the thread was a joke, because I was looking at photo's of really cute bunnies, i was not really going to get more pets. I have my hands full as it is.

There was only two cable ties, if you chew the bottom one off - I realise this after - then it makes a gap you can push. It is also possible that one of the bunnies did this.

It was a pure accident, and I had to pull the entier of my garage out to get them from behind the hutches. I feel like you are insinuating I did this on purpose, sorry if I am mistaken.
