Hi everyone, meet Snowball.
Snowball is my 1 year old guinea pig who has been extremely healthy up until this point. This morning, i brought her and my other girl onto the table because their cage was ready for cleaning. Right away, i noticed Snowballs ear twitching while she was eating, i thought something could just be stuck in her tooth but nope, its still continuing even when shes not eating.
We think it could be an ear infection but the other possibility would be mites, however my other girl isn't doing anything like this.
Snowball loves to slep in a half circle position, probably putting a lot of pressure on her neck, could this be a problem too?
There's also a large fan i put in my room a few days ago, wondering if that could have done anything...
The soonest i can get to the vet is a couple days (1-3)
Please let me know what you think could be doing this :( <3Screenshot_20200628-105939_Video Player.webpScreenshot_20200628-110000_Video Player.webpScreenshot_20200628-110012_Video Player.webp

This does sound like it could be an ear infection or a neurological problem, but only a vet can say for sure. I dont think the fan or her sleeping position could cause these symptoms. Hope the vet can give you a proper diagnosis x

Please have your piggy vet checked as promptly as possible with any head tilt. The sooner you address a tilt, the greater the chance that it will reverse.

Re. fan it depends on how close to the cage and how strong the air stream that you directed towards the cage is; any vigorous airing can also cause a problem in a sensitive piggy.

Thank you so much for the help, i will be taking her to the vet as soon as i can, the head tilt doesnt seem to be consistant but i can see it sometimes.
Attached is a photo of where the fan is in comparison to the cage, its on the lowest setting

Also i forgot to mention but it JUST occurred to me, a week ago I gave Snowball her first bath because she was super yellow underneath and i heard that once or twice a year is fine, could the ear be water logged? I tried to be as careful as i could to not get it in her ear but she was super jumpy and moved a LOT

Please don't get into a major soul searching fit, which won't help you in any way, and concentrate on dealing with the problem.

For dirty bums we recommend to give a bum bath with plain baby warm water if necessary and not a full body bath. Mine only get a bath for medical reasons in order to protect the sensitive microbiome on their skin and a bum bath at need after I have cut off any tangled and filthy hairs.
Bathing (including cleaning grease glands)
