You gave little Silver lots of happy todays before he toddled off to the Rainbow Bridge on his own terms. Sleep well little one and have fun with Forrest at the Rainbow Bridge.
 
I am so sorry you had to say goodbye to Silver. He had a wonderful life full of love with you, a life that was so very much longer than it would have been had he not found you. Be sad at his passing but also be very proud of the way you look after your animals.
 
Sat up with miss Bailey tonight, she has the same weird little extra teeth splinters that Ebony had a while back. Her right eye is slightly ulcerated, she's bloated again and has soft poops. Luckily she's already on emeprid that I can increase the frequency of giving her, get her on some eye lube, clean her up, and hopefully resolve the soft poops, but I'll be booking her in for Monday when hopefully my vet is in to have her teeth checked, given the ulceration of the eye I'm a bit worried about tooth roots.

She's already on a good whack of pain relief as she's a bloaty, arthritic old lady at almost 7. But she's eating quite happily, just seems a bit miserable, but so would I be if I had poop in my hair 🤢

I must admit I thought that right eye looked off for a couple of weeks but you couldn't have paid me to actually tell you why.. I think I mightve developed a 6th sense after all these years 😅

So, this month was meds check month and little Amber once again took one for the team and went to see the vet. She almost ran off the table a couple of times 🫠 cant take her anywhere lol but that's them sorted for metacam for another 6 months. It's scary how quickly that has gone!

I did offer to hold her while she got her stethoscope sorted but she seemed to think she had it all under control 🫠 I must admit after losing Hazel to a fall a few years ago my stomach was in knots, but nothing bad happened so I suppose I cant be too annoyed about it. It does however solidify my dislike of seeing anyone other than my usual vet 😅

Poor Amber was very bemused about her trip out, considering she feels absolutely fine 🤣
 
It's worth being careful. Piggies seen very sedate with little short legs but those back legs can produce good propulsion at times. Hamsters can take off straight up into the air to an astonishing height too 😶
 
I was caught off guard a few years back with my gerbil Ash, we were trying to weigh him and he just teleported out of the little tub, up my arm and almost down my top 🤣 luckily both me and my vet managed to grab him before he disappeared but that was the closest we've ever got to losing someone off the table! He was always such a chill little guy it really took me by suprise 😅 luckily the dwarf hamsters have all ended up wrapped in towels so they can't do anything
 
What a gorgeous colour Amber is.
I think I annoy some vets by holding my piggies still when they are on the table if the vets not holding them but there's no way I'm trusting any of mine not to decide to do a sudden dash. The vets seem very relaxed about just leaving them standing. When they are in a strange place even the best behaved piggy can make out of character moves.
 
Amber had another vet appointment today, luckily with my regular vet who is a better catch than the other.. she decided she was going to launch herself out the carrier into their air as soon as he touched her 😱
Anyway she's gone and jabbed herself in the eye with probably some hay but she's also given it a bit of a whack as there's some swelling and redness.

After a bit of an extreme start, she was as good as gold getting examined compared to how she was when I tried to look at her eye! But then he did give her some local aneasthetic 😅 she's a bit of a sight at the moment as she's sneezed the dye out of her right nostril as well now 😂

She's got some lubricant and drops for the next few days, hopefully that fixes her up nice and quickly.
