Eriathwens piggies

Oh Amber! what a character you are! Bet you keep your slave on her toes. Hope your eye recovers very soon

Just dropping in to announce that, now it's November, miss Poppet is a whole 7 years old!

I honestly can't believe it. It seems equally like yesterday, and a hundred years ago I adopted a scrawny little scrap of fur, who ate at the speed of light and would fall asleep at the drop of a hat from sheer exhaustion.

How on earth has she become an old lady without my permission? 🤣

A not so recent photo of her because I've not been well and giving the piggies space while I recover, but its one of my favourites of her 😅

Happy birthday Poppet! Look how lovely she is! What a great birthday to celebrate. Hope you’re feeling a bit better yourself.

Happy birthday lovely Poppet, what a gorgeous girl you are ❤️ I hope mom feels better soon 🙏

Happy 7th birthday Poppet. :yahoo: I hope that piggy mum is feeling better soon.

Just popped my head around the piggies door to check on them as the guys next door are letting off fireworks, pretty unbothered as always however Poppet is rather congested sounding so I've got her out for a cuddle and syringe feed. Luckily she is eating perfectly fine, there's no eye or nose discharge so rather than subject her to the out of hours, I'll make her an appointment Monday to see if she needs antibiotics.

Ugh, I've just given her a good feel over before doing her nebuliser, she's got 2 marble sized lumps in her throat 😔 not ideal. One in the centre and one over to the right a bit, both are quite mobile so hopefully just cysts although given the weird hole she developed a year ago I am worried it's a couple of abscesses.

Thanks! They're a little bigger today, she has a little bite on her ear so I'm worried they're abscesses 😔 she's still not snotty so I'm also worried they're pushing on her airways causing the noise.

Given her age I dont know how she would cope with surgery to deal with them.

Bella has been acting up, I've seen her harassing Kiwi, which isn't ideal..I'm wondering if since Bailey has passed if she's feeling unsure about the number of friends she has, she was returned multiple times to the rescue for bullying when there weren't enough pigs in her group, her family unit has gone from 11 to 6 over the last couple of years so it would make sense. I cant really think of any pigs in other groups I would want to integrate into that group so I may have to suck it up and start searching for a friend or two to add into her group to stop her picking on Poppet.

Hopefully she's just stressed from the fireworks and it dies down.

So unfortunately upon examination Poppet has at least 7 lumps, 3 either side which are likely lymph nodes, plus the one at the front which seems to be attached to the larynx and as I suspected is pushing on her airways causing the noise. This is likely cancerous and isn't something we would consider surgically removing.

While she is well in herself we will continue to monitor her, if the big one grows we can try to drain it if possible and if she starts getting snotty we can call for some antibiotics. I had thought one of her front feet was a little purple tinged and when he checked her mouth he asked if I had noticed a blue tinge on her guns as she wasn't as pink as she should be. So it looks like her little body is struggling.

Poor little piggy. I hope she can stay comfortable and be with you a bit longer 🙏

Poppet is doing well, she's gained some weight since her vet visit and while she still sounds like she smokes 20 a day 😅 she's also still very happy and bimbling around contentedly. I treated them to some ings hay for their weekly clean out this time, my house smells like herbal tea again 😂 which she's enjoying. And she's loving the extra attention for her "just because" syringe feeds.

There's still no discharge from her nose, but I have noticed a little bit of sneezing so I'll see how she goes but I might call for antibiotics just in case. I might just be paranoid after Ferns respiratory issue but I dont want it to blow up out of nowhere. Her lungs and nose sounded clear at the vet however, it's all in her throat where the lumps are but I suppose better safe than sorry if she gets any sneezier.

What vet are you using, if I can ask. I've seen you mentioned having females neutered in another post and seeing you're from my area I wondered if you have vet recommendations?
