Facial abscess - my lovely Rodney ;(

It was lovely to talk to you, and I am so glad that Rodney is doing so well. You're doing a fantastic job, and don't hesitate to give me a shout if you want any advice, help or just a chat. Dealing with abscesses can be quite daunting but also very satisfying when you see them getting better and better. x

I've been watching for your update so happy to hear Rodney is doing so well, bless his cotton socks I bet he's enjoying all this extra attention! Get well soon little man! x
 
Well he was up at 5.50am demanding veg, he has not done this in a couple of weeks! Everytime I look in the cage he is out causing mischief, it's like he's got a new zest for life! Honestly Fred will be a new pig once that abscess is drained!

Now I just need to get my vet to dish out the Zithromax & I will be super happy.

Thank you for the number Debbie! He was a good boy last night & let me clean it altho there was no pus yet, haven't liked yet this morning.... ;/

I will tell him you're all thinking of him, I'm amazed I got him back off the vet they wanted to keep him! I was worried all night but I think he had a great time! ;)
 
This thing is closing fast! Still no pus returning, managed to get a bit of Manuka honey in. Felt like I should try while I can still get in ;/

I'm so so pleased little Rodders is feeling more himself again :) Look at him stuffing his chops with yums x).

You must feel more relieved to see him a lot chirpier than he was. Fingers crossed for your next few steps with him! xx
 
Thank you ;) he is ridiculously handsome! He is doing wonderfully but wry nervous it may comeback if I can't get the right anti biotic....
 
Update - Rodney is continuing to do well & I am continuing to be brave & keep the thing open as best I can! Mad at the vet for giving me no follow up meds & telling me to buy something at a chemist which turned out to be prescription only - so further days of no treatment. I am continuing with his anti biotic from before & putting Manuka honey in the wound best I can.....!
 
Well done you and Rodney. I really feel for you, flintsTones and Funnehmare at the moment and all your poorly pigs with these abbesses.
 
It's a nightmare! And so odd they all have the same thing! It's really not nice having to keep it open we all should meet up for a big vodka after its done with! Haha
 
I absolutely couldn't be more chuffed with him, still no sign of refill, till managing to keep it nice & open & I can clearly see it healing from the inside out. Picked up the stuff from chemist to pop in there - it's basically for oral thrush, but the honey was working pretty well I think.

Here is a pic of it today, so 3 days after the op (weds morning)

Thanks ;) I think he's the most handsomest piggy in the universe! He is looking well & it's so nice to have his cheekiness back again they really do feel down when that abscess needs to pop... X
 
I kno he does, I think they're stunning. Everyone who ever sees him is shocked by his hair! They're like little hedgehogs ;)

He's better today tormenting me he's still in a cat carrier and seems determined to get out. Just about to try and flush his abscess again! x

I'm partial to silver piggies too, my favourite (shhhh) piggy was a silver agouti and i adored him even though i was completely allergic to him, but he was so soft underneath...sigh, i miss him every day! He looked exactly like this piccy
