Hello!

I currently have the Pets At Home Foxglove hutch sitting empty in my garden, I have some boars I am looking to put outside but the flooring needs to be replaced completely, does anyone have the measurements for the flooring? I’m looking to have two separate levels to keep two boars on the bottom and one boar up top!

Thank you!

I'm afraid that isn’t an appropriate way for a single boar to live - The single boar must always be alongside others so they can interact through the bars. If he is alone at the top, he can’t interact and he will get lonely. He will need his own hutch facing the others so they can still see each other, have body language and pheromone contact.

You will need to measure the hutch to get the size.
The external measurements of the foxglove seem to 162 x 71.5cm (according to the pets at home website) but that wont help with replacing the flooring as the internal measurements will be slightly less.

Hello! Thank you for reply!

The reason he is on his own is because his friend passed away, he is an older boar and I don’t want it be stuck in the same cycle ( I own thirteen guinea pigs in total, four of which are boars paired up in twos ). If another boar passes, then I will of course pair him up with another boar! But thank you for your concern!

I shall try and get the measurements as it seems nowhere has them! Thank you!

I'm sorry for your loss. I understand that’s the reason you don’t want to be in the cycle, its an issue all of us face at some point. He doesn’t ‘have’ to have a live in friend if you don’t want more piggies, but he does need to be living in a side by side cage with others while he doesn’t have a live in friend, not living above others, as he cannot see the pair below.

If you’ve got the hutch in your garden can’t you just measure the internal size of it yourself?

I do have more piggies in the garden, so he will be able to see, hear and smell them.

I think I may have to, I’m just scared in case I get the wrong measurements. Lol!
