Furbabies' Adventures

Free roaming time used to be easy. My girls were really good about going back to the cage at the end of free roaming.
And then came Pino ...

He loves free roaming time and snoozing under my sofa. When it's time to go back, I have to get him to move with my outstrechted arm. He usually sits just so far away that I can't reach him or that I can touch him with my finger tips. Sometimes he even comes a bit closer to snif at my fingers ... but does he come out?
No, he moves in the other direction and it takes so long to persuade him that usually one of the girls wanders out again.

One of the signs that I'm really really really serious about Pino going back us that I put some pillows down to block off the way in the wrong direction.
Once I've got him so far, he goes back to the cage.
Yesterday Kylie was outside again. She doesn't seem to have see the pillows before (I don't have to use them every evening). So when I tried to get her back to the cage - after Pino was finally inside - she wandered off to investigate the pillows.
Ah that’s Pino he’s special ❤️

I’ve found chasing them out with my sewing ruler works (is that more mean than a broom?), until one stupidly hot summer evening just like now -

Nala (NarlyPig) decided she would spend the night under the sofa, the floor being cooler than her house. Me “Right! I’m fetching the sewing ruler”, Nala “Nope, not moving thank you”. I step back, forgetting I’d already moved the sofa, tripped over the coffee table, bashed glasses and face on the other side table, and crashed to the floor. Nala didn’t approve of the commotion and scooted back to piggy base, and I had a lovely black eye for my efforts (and fortunately no other injury).

Yes, I know I’m accident-prone, but please people, take care when extricating your pigs from under furniture!

Oh dear.
Sorry about your accident.
Hope it’s not too painful and heals quickly

Ouch. Sending healing vibes to you!

Oops, sorry 🫢, it was ages ago, so I can laugh about it now 😅. Nala 🌈 bridge in 2023. I should get myself organised and post some photos of her and Marnie. Thank you anyway 🤗

This morning I forgot to put the grid at the living room door. I was preparing the piggies' breakfast and talking to a friend on the phone whose dog was at the animal hospital in critical condition ... when I went back into the living room, Pino was nowhere to be found.
Of course he was in my bedroom. It's piggy heaven to hide under my bed between the stuff stored there because I don't have a storage room in my flat.
He probably also was in the bathroom because I have found suspicious traces there as well.

Pino does like exploring ……❤️

My girls are very good about going back. Odi und Jamie were as well.
And my living room door does have this magical force field. For everypig but Pino.
Pino just loves to explore.

Yesterday evening he went off again but this time kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were closed. The hall and the study were boooring. So he came back quickly to snooze under my sofa.

Usually, I don't use bowls but the place I got Pino from uses bowls and since his sense of smell seems to be not the best when it comes to finding food right before his nose, I gave them some treats in bowls during Pino's first weeks.
(Can't believe he is only with us for about four weeks )

Of course Pino is usually last to investigate the bowls because he was still snoozing under my sofa.
So this happens ...

A brave (?) boy to challenge Kylie ...

Sounds very familiar...
Maybe guineas who live on or near the Danube get a little wonky?
