Guinea Eyes , Should I Be Concerned?

Hello everyone, please bare with me as I'm brand new to the whole forum thing. Everyone seems to be so helpful so I'd like to ask a few questions about my sweet little piggy if that's alright!
His names Chewie, and he's almost about 5 years old, so he's already a pretty old man. His mommas a paranoid mess, so I'm always worried, but he's never had any sort of health issues except sneezing a bit too much with certain bleddings. Recently I've noticed that one eye looks completely fine, glossy and healthy, while the other one is leaky, and tends to get hard crust under his eye. He hasn't been sneezing more than usual, he's eating and squeaking every time he gets his favorite treats! I haven't seen any change in behavior, he's still my happy chubby pig!
I was curious, do you guys think this is something I should take to a vets attention? I was thinking of calling tomorrow anyways just to be extra cautious, but I'd also like someone else's opinions just so I don't drive myself crazy.

Please have that eye vet checked. There can be something stuck firmly under the lid that is causing constant irritation. something is certainly going on!

Welcome! That eye doesn't look nice at all. My girls eye went very similar and when we took her to the vet the vet removed a gaint hay seed from her eye. They didn't need to knock her out, she was so good they were able to just rinse her eye. Hope everything goes well. Let us know how it goes!

I would get it checked... could be irritation from something trapped behind the lid and/or bacterial infection requiring an antibiotic drop. Hope this helps!

Thank you guys so much! I've been so concerned but everyone's telling me I'm just being overbearing, but how could I not over my piggy! I will definitely be calling a vet when they open. Thank you so so much, I will keep you guys updated!

Looks exactly the same as my piggy's eye - she had a small piece of hay stuck in her upper eyelid but acted totally normal (minus an almost closed eye).

Hey both scooby and shaggy had this, turned out to be an eye infection. Vet gave drops and after a week or so they were fine. I seem to remember them saying that guineas hide their illness's really well so for it to be obvious it must be bad. Also seem to remember something about respiratory issues with a symptom of eye infection. If nothing else the vet can check your piggie over in full and advise what to do. Hope it all goes well

The vet today went great, he's as healthy as an ox! They said something may have gotten in his eye but it looks like it had been flushed already hence why he had the crusties. They gave me some cream to apply around his eyes and told me that for almost five years old he's beyond what he expected on the health scale. I suppose at the end of the day it's always good to be an overbearing momma, lol! Thank you all so much for everything and good luck with all of your little munchkins!

If it has already been flushed out, he should no longer have his eye closed, watering and/or indrawn. If it continues, then it means that what is wedged under the lid (it can be completely hidden) is still there.

Glad that your boy is otherwise doing really well for his age!
