Hi,

My Guinea pig had a peice of hay stuck between his teeth, and it turns out that one small piece of hay had created a space between his bottom teeth, and the teeth was in an acute V shape. I just checked again just now, and his bottom teeth went back to straight, but with a small tiny hay length gap which was not there before that incident. one moment it was in a v shape, the next it was straight? So easily shifted. Is he in pain? Is this a problem?!

I am wondering if the fact that his teeth had shifted that easily will create problems for him later? He does have an appointment with the vet in a couple days, but I need to know in advance what are some thoughts on this situation.

Has he lost any weight?
At this point I would switch to daily weighing to keep an eye on his food intake (weighing is the only reliable way to do this).

It is also good he is seeing a vet, as teeth that loose do not sound normal, but of course it is impossible to diagnose anything without a hands on examination by a vet.

In the meantime all you can do is weigh daily and step in with syringe feeding if he isn't able to maintain his weight.

Good luck at the vet - hopefully they can diagnose the problem.
