hey guys...
my piggie cleo unfortunatly rejected the small baby... :'(
she attacked her... and injured her quite badly... she trampled her and severely bit her ears and neck... :'(
so i have taken on my little trooper...
ive cleaned her up and shes stopped bleeding but it looks sore and red at the mo.
she has taken 0.3 ml of kitten milk twice in the last 4 hours...
i cant seem to get her to go to the toilet though...
shes very weak and can hardly walk so ive got a feeling shes not been feeding...
i have an appointment for the vets at 2pm tomorow... but in the mean time i would like her to go to the toilet...
and tips on how to do it...?
ive done the rubbing warm damp cotton on her bottom but no luck...
thanks guys...
x

thanks...
shes feeding well... just had another 0.2ml of milk... :)
still not passed any thing yet though...
I'm worried about how detrimental her not going to the toilet is...?
I'm tired now... lol
back up in an hour and 45.... :)

Hi there

I'm sorry that mum has rejected this little one, it may well be that there is a congenital defect that has caused her to do this. Handrearing is always worth a try, though it often has a sad ending.

Toileting is vital - a damp cotton wool ball, gentle circling motion over the bottom, after each feed. If you are not able to stimulate the baby to pass anything then this may be the reason that mum has rejected it in the first place.

The amount of feed you are getting in is good and should be passing through the digestive system well.

Best of luck, you are in for a lot of sleep deprivation is the baby makes it - it is worth every minute.

I know just how good it feels to be wee'd and pooped on for the first time when handrearing! Not a piggle mind you, I hand reared my rabbit when she was rejected by her mum!

Mummy had put her by the door so when I opened it she fell out! (We called her Splat!). It took a lot longer than it's taken you to get weed and pooped on, but the relief on our part when she finally did was just incredible! Getting her to 'super suck' (latch onto the bottle and just drain it) took almost three weeks of struggling to keep her alive and keep her fed, but when she did it, I actually cried with happiness.

My girls and I have our fingers and paws crossed that your little piggy goes from strength to strength! You're doing a fantastic job so far! She.Is.BEAUTIFUL! x)x)

Aw, great news! Baby piggies start eating solid food at only a few days old, so she can start to eat it :) Your doing a great job with her, keep it up! :)

p.s. I'm not good at suggesting names, but I like naming pets after characters from my favorite book :))
