For the last few days the girls have been inside in my spare room as the shed would be too hot for them and I decided it would be good for us all to get a bit more handling in! None of them really enjoy it and would much rather be with each other running around, so I don't really do lap time as is a bit stressful for all involved! But the other morning Chewie let me full on stroke her in the cage whilst she was nomming! After a few strokes she give me that sideways look to say 'whatchoo doing that for' so I left it there!

When I got home from work I got some yummy red pepper and asked them to go in the tube, to my surprise, one of them did! Rey came onto my lap in a big towel ( my hair drying towel - oops) and took a little while to settle enough but did eat it. Meanwhile BB and Chewie were v upset that they hadn't gone in the tube first! Chewie tried to shove her whole head through the grid square and fortunately she's too big! When I put Rey back, Chewie couldn't get in the tube fast enough! Her and BB kept running in and out of it too fast for me to pick it up! Eventually all were fed in my lap and the rest of the food distributed and all was repeated before bed. Chewie and BB only needed a small encouragement to go in the tube but Rey was not convinced it was all worth it!

Chewie didn't even try to bite me once even after the food had gone!

But it's back in the shed later today as it's gotten cooler and the room is a bit niffy - they're on miscanthus bedding as auboise was out of stock, I don't like it as much and I can't open the window because there's 1 and a half drum kits in the way!

Handling will have to wait until they're inside again at the weekend

Thats fabulous news. Well done Rey on being the bravest and first to venture into human territory - that is such a big step. you are clearly gaining their trust.

I think had she known the tube was going to end up in my lap she wouldn't have gone in! She's always been the easiest to handle - Chewie fidgets and bites and BB is the slipperiest wriggle bum I've ever held! But she's also the only one I cannot touch when in the cage (BB will only allow me occasionally when she's got a particularly good nom)

That's amazing! My boys live in my room so they both let me stroke them fully while in the cage as they are extremely used to me poking around multiple times everyday to say hi or do spot cleans. You'll be having more lap time cuddles in no time :)
