Hay Box delivery charge

My girls love the orchard over the meadow hay but to me I can’t really see a difference be the two.
this is the box it comes in and this one is the orchard dandelion mix

Thank you looks delicious! 😍 How long roughly was delivery? I haven't received an email about how long it will take yet :)

Delivery was really quick, I can’t remember if I got an email saying how long it was going to be I will check. I think I just got the couriers email to say what day they were delivering it.

I've got a bit of Hay Box stuff left and I popped out yesterday to get a bag of the local stuff that I'd found out about.

£2.50 and it fills a 5kg Hay Box box so can't complain for the price. It is less green than the HB meadow but a lot better than the Pets at Home stuff I have.

I don't think it's had any dust extraction so I've just spent the last half hour beating the life out of it in the garden. The boys are munching on it though and it'll do for bedding. But I think Healthy Herby will be my next go for eating hay.

I've ordered Orchard from TimothyHay.co.uk and will try the Herby once that's gone. Sounds like the 2nd cut will be nice for my picky eaters! They don't eat flowers, but like dandelion leaves.

I ordered the second cute from Herby today so I will let you know how we get on!

Had a follow up reply from Hay Box. Most of it was addressing my own personal situation but thought this bit was worth sharing...

I do understand your points. As you can appreciate, we have had numerous price hikes from our couriers and packaging suppliers which has resulted in this but again, across the board, the majority of customers are not paying any more.

They didn't give any response to my comment about not having communicated in advance with customers though.

Is this majority those who buy in bulk and therefore won’t be charged postage? I think doing it without letting customers know is the thing that stings the most.

Timothy hay changed the weight when they switched to boxes. They stated it clearly on their website, right at the top. So you had to see it before you scrolled further down.

Did haybox not do that? Hopefully people will stick with them...may not be much of a choice if their piggies/rabbits are snobby 🙉

I can appreciate costs going up etc but the lack of communication is frustrating, but not only that I do feel they have been sneaky changing prices to £24.95 so you have to either add something else or pay delivery! Hopefully our boys will like their order from Herby Hay and then some rescues can also benefit!

They show the new free delivery threshold at the top but there's no message to explain the changes they've made overall unfortunately.

I hope it doesn’t lose them their regular small buying customers.

Well, I am not paying extra or buying more just because they changed things. It's the way they did it. Even virgin media will let you know price is going up. That's telling something about their customer service. They have FB as platform to communicate with customers, too. Surely it would be easier to explain why they changed things rather than reply to same questions in PM...

If they put postage up for people who aren't subscribed (I am not) I would understand, but doing it so sneeky with 5p difference between free delivery or extra £5 isn't great move...
If they need to up the prices, fine. Ensure you're selling good quality hay (it hasn't been great past few months) and ensure it's delivered on time.
I think it's bad timing, especially since there's competition which can pick the customers you let down 🤷‍♀️

I can't make head or tail of the Haybox thing, my order is showing as free delivery still, at the old price, and is on the way - if I find they have taken off more money without telling me. it will not go well! Glad to see there are other sellers to replace them if it does happen!

Our Orchard grass from TimothyHay.co.uk arrived today. It's as green as haybox Timothy, but very fluffy and smells lovely. Hopefully my boys will like it! It still has seed heads, but not as much as haybox Timothy blend.

Our Healthy Herby 2nd cut Timothy arrived today. I’m no hay expert (only got some Pets at Home stuff to compare it to) but it smells lovely and is nice and green. Got a free sample of the orchard and they went nuts for that too. Dexter definitely approves!

My healthy herby orchard and dandelion hay arrived Tuesday. Piggies really love it. It's not as green as haybox Timothy (which I am still ordering but just purely Timothy). The piggies seem to be choosing it over the Timothy at the moment and the last day or two they've mainly just have orchard as the other Timothy is currently in the garage. Have noticed huge dark poos though since the change and not sure which piggies it's from. I'm presuming perhaps their bodies are just getting used to it or as it's new they've been eating loads to increase their poo size. It's the first time they've ever have orchard so perhaps that's what it is. I take it no one else has experienced any changes when changing hay type.
