[emoji9]What a feast! I am so pleased you are feeling a bit better.

Greattttt!
But just curious by giving benebac daily, will that make it less "effective" as a good bacteria protecter should they require to be on antibiotics in future? I hope that wont happen [emoji53]
Okay noted! Thank you dear Helen! [emoji1] yall the best!Possibly yes, so maybe you could give it for a week once a month? I take mine all the time though, but have not been on antibiotics for years.
Thank u Helen....so far no crusty eyes, runny nose and laboured breathing. But I just saw her trying to hump her roommate [emoji19]I would keep an eye on her over the next few days and if you are still worried get her checked by a vet. Keep an eye out for any crusty eyes, runny nose or laboured breathing (she may look like she is nodding).

Could it be pms? I hope it is compared to any other medical conditions.....i pray I wont need to go to the vet. Not the cost but my other two girls who kept going to the vet didnt make it in the end. Its like a dirty word to me now [emoji17]
I bought appelin b12 from pharmacy for her. Realised its the same prescribed by the vet previously for other gone but never forgotten babies. Was still thinkin of giving her critical care but shes eating [emoji16] paranoid mama slave..
Thats really good to know! Thank you Wiebke! I keep praying its pms n tell myself she will be fine soon but cant help feeling paranoid [emoji20] I really hate to go to the vet. Its all bad bad memories..It sounds like she is coming into season, and yes, sows can be moody if they have a stronger season in the wake of a change in the hierarchy!

Thank you for replying Savvy Cavy! I'm at the vet now. Shes been inside for awhile. I really pray nothing nad has happened to her. I was cleaning her left eye with optrex as there seems like little specks of crust only in the left eye. So I suspect it might be dust from hay causing irritation. I try not to go to the vet as theres many bad memoriesGreetings Mneo,
Relax gurl!
You are a wonderful mum to 4 beautiful piggies. I can't imagine what could happen to piggies in great care, but when it does happen, you need to stay calm. Just take a deep breath, knowing that everything will be fine.
Moving on, cleaning eyes is not a usual way of treating clouded eyes, usually you can buy eye drops from a trustful pet store. Paffy is like any other guinea pig, and they are cautious of their body and surroundings, just like any other living thing. But guinea pigs are very special animals because they are not independent and like other guinea pigs, but things bigger than them, not so much.
It takes a long time to build a good bond with a guinea pig, and you have done it well. The next step that you should perform on Paffy:
Put her on a warm blanket or towel, and pet her softly while looking into her eyes. Do they have any scratches, or anything out of the ordinary?
If so, calm down. That is a whole different thing. Contact me straight away if that happened.
If not, everything is fine for now. Just pet her and interact with her for a little bit, maybe even put her out for floortime with the other piggies! She'll really like that, I guarantee you.
You might want to keep her away from the other piggies if she shows any signs of sickness. Sick guinea pigs in the wild tend to be kicked out of their herds, its true.
If any other problems arise, please feel free to contact me by conversation.
Hope I helped and best wishes to Paffy and your piggies,
~Savvy Cavy

I thank you for going to the vet as fast as you could, trips to the vets office almost always save lives.Thank you for replying Savvy Cavy! I'm at the vet now. Shes been inside for awhile. Her eyes seem okay just that I thought routine cleaning for a few more days will be good. Until she decided to dart off my embrace and off the knee high table, nose down with a cut lip and some blood at the gum.of her upper teeth and worse still with crackling breathing
I just pray she will not die as a result or I will live with remorse for the rest of my life. I have never loved a pig so much before. Shes my top pig(((((

It's very surprising that she jumped off a high table, she must have not liked the cleaning at all if she risked jumping off that high of a ledge. Either she hated the eye cleaning or she didn't see how high the table was.
You can always stop hay dust by buying a different type of hay. I once had a timothy hay problem with Cherry when I would find dust everywhere in her cage; I bought orchard grass, and look at the outcome!
Just calm down and pray to God that Paffy will stay with you, and you'll be OK.
Aww, that's Paffy? What a cute piggy.
After her treatment, switch her back to the Oxbow timothy. You never know, the switch might have caused too much stress, or maybe she was poking her eyes on the oat hay. Be sure that the vets are doing nothing to hurt her, but keep in mind that sometimes vets need to do what they need to do.![]()
Aww, your not a stupid mum! Its just that sometimes, we care for our piggies so much, we can't resist just leaving them there, suffering!Yea thats her unfortunately with a stupid mum. She seems fine at the moment and is still trying her best to eat her oat hay but she seems like shes not able to chew properly and has to be admitted for a day. Theres some internal bleeding from the xray and they recommended that I leave her there just so they can check at the end of they day there is no more bleeding. They kept stressing that she is fine AT THE MOMENT and it is likely that if in the next 12-24 hours if her condition is stabilized, more bleeding should not occur in the next few days. I got the vet to do eye stain for her too but she will only be doing it at the end of the day so as to not stress her out.
Anyone else has similar experiences to share? I asked the vet and she says its not the worst she has seen so that put me at some ease.

It's great that the vet says its not the worst case.
Tell the vet your usual routine and caring process so she can get an idea to what Paffy is used to.
I am also replying to a new member who is having her guinea pigs eye taken out, check it out: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/help-eye-removal.121788/#post-1653047

Oh my sweet lord. I was cleaning paffys eyes earlier this morning before I leave for work n she decided to leap off the table and landed nose down! To my horror I saw blood at her upper teeth and a cut at her lips. The worse is her breathing sounded like she has pneumonia! Exactly like what happened to buffy. I'm on my way to the vet now. The place where I try to avoid as much as I can. But in the mean time. Does anyone know why is there a crackling sound after her fall. Will she die? I am so so fkg worried! God please make sure nothing happens to her. I love her the most....
Hello Wiebke, thank you for replying! Do you mean the crackling sound is from the cut at the nose? Its really scary to be hearing that pneumonia like sound again. But she seems fine now! To review in a week!Don't panic! Her nose is a bit bunged up from the cut, but as long as her front teeth are still firm and it is just a little cut, there is nothing to worry about! Little accidents happen...
Thank you Julie M, my heart broke again because I really love this pig. Shes so different from all other pigs ive met in.my.life.Get well soon Paffy. (((Hugs)))
You sound like a very caring piggy owner. And you have done all you can for your little ones.Don't blame yourself as accidents happen to us all.
