Help! My male guinea pig has a really dirty bum area!

This morning a really bad smell was coming from the hutch and I found this in the cage I have googled it and it came up with how to clean it but even though I do health checks every week I have never seen so much smelly brown gunk. I don’t know if I should clean it myself or not.
Urgent advice needed as it is stinking up my house

It sounds like he has a tummy upset and should see a vet.

If he has diarrhea then stop all fresh veg and get him checked out by the vet if its really foul smelling ...
Was it just the one smelly poo? Or stuck to him?

It was stuck to him and the smell really makes you gag. I cleaned him up and there was two more big blobs of disgustingness inside him I think I will go to the vets.

Please have your boy vet checked for impaction or another problem that can cause soft poos (including penis shaft issues).
Impaction is unfortunately extremely smelly (something that doesn't quite come across in any videos).

I am going away for two weeks but my mum is looking after them so I have ralked to her about going to the vet and she agrees that she should take moustachio* to the vets ( I think she is a bit annoyed as she took her dog to the vets yesterday )
*the affected guinea pig!
By the way I watched the video linked above and cleaned it all out. I checked up on him this morning and there was some new gunk but not as much. I’ll keep you posted on the vet visit. My guinea pig is 3 years old so does that count as old?

Your piggy is currently at the peak of his life. The average life span for a health guinea pig is 5-7 years.

It is good to have him vet checked to make sure that there are no underlying issues causing the impaction because he is a bit on the young side of developing it.
