Junior Guinea Pig
She is very bossy, I think she would be very good in a leadership role!
Babychino for Prime Minister it is then! She couldn't do a worse job than the current one.She is very bossy, I think she would be very good in a leadership role!
Lovely family photos, absolute sweetheartok it’s official, I’ve taken the cutest photos ever!
Baby is so confident now I am so pleased - she is even more confident than her mama! She gets the zoomies and popcorns like crazy too. Yesterday made me giggle, freddie and hexie were sat eating some pellets from the bowl (like a civilised couple) and baby was just running around popcorning zooming everywhere - really reminded me of a toddler running around madly whilst the parents try to eat their dinner and have 5 mins peace
She is learning her confidence from the best though - Freddie is sooo tame he is literally the most ‘puppy’ pig, he is so curious with humans, he loves coming up and seeing everyone, he also always goes nose to nose and chats to my mums dog when we look after him haha, he will snuggle into me and sleep on me for well over an hour lol, he loves watching films with me! He is a very special piggie.
Hexie is still so nervy of us bless her, am trying to tame her but it is difficult- I think Freddie is really helping her see that I am not going to hurt her! She was left dumped in someone’s garden (the owners had moved out and left 18 pigs in a cardboard box in the garden! Most pregnant by the looks of it). I can’t imagine what she went through to make her this distrusting of humans - poor girlie
Anyway, I am glad she is with us now, and I am glad Baby was born into a loving home
We still haven’t decided on a name…![]()

She really is, and her fur is soooo soft, and her little golden tummy is so gorgeous, so blessed to watch her growHazel is growing into quite a little beauty, isn't she? The name really suits her.
Nice to know that she is doing all the things you want to see from a baby. It is actually not at all uncommon that dad or an ersatz daddy is taking over as a nursery maid and teacher. Babies learn by copying and by taking food from their elders' mouths in order to learn what is safe to eat and what. I always find 'pup school' so adorable. Hazel has chosen/been accepted as Freddie's little shadow. That bond is going to last.
PS: You may not believe me now, but there are going to be moments when you want Hazel to SHUT UP because babies are loud and nonstop loud whenever they are awake so the group can keep track of its most vulnerable members in the thick undergrowth they are denning in.![]()

Ah that's so interesting, because she steals veg from Freddie ALL the time, and I am always shocked he lets her! So it must be 'pup school' and him teaching her what is good and what isn't. Sometimes she literally refuses to eat unless Freddie had it first!
Oh.... there may have already been some times I have wished for Hazel to be quiet ahhahahaha! My boyf and I like watching scary movies... and baby has really interrupted that both with her loudness from squeaking and her noise from running around the cage - I do sometimes get worried as it sounds as though she has crashed into every thing in the cage lol! We are used to more mellow GPs as Flora was always slow and 'old lady like' and Freddie is a chonky relaxed boy, so having two energetic sprinters has been a change of pace! I do find myself watching them a lot though their little 'society' is so interesting.
Just try to enjoy those short baby weeks (and baby wheeks) as much as you can because they are over in the blink of an eye. And forget about horror movies when you have got all the screeching you can stand live in your room...![]()

Lovely name, lovely piggiesSome recent pigtures
LovelyHello!
The Jacket Potatoes (sorry I mean Guinea Pigs!) have been considerably upset with their lack of attention, I got a terrible chest infection and then had some very big exams so it was all very busy and hectic the last couple of weeks. Finally got a week off work now and have finished the antibiotics so am feeling a lot better!
We have been calling baby.... Hazel! and I think it is sticking?! It seems to suit her, and we like the name, and continuing with the F and H theme!
She has really really found her voice.... she is the squeakiest little thingany time I get up off the sofa or walk past their cage WHEEK WHEEK WHEEK, and it is very clearly from baby Hazel! If I am a little late with the morning veggies oh my they all act as though I've starved them for a week!
Baby Hazel is getting very confident taking lettuce and veg from my hands (Hexie not so much, she is a tough anxious cookie poor girlie). Freddie is helping me bond with Hexie, as she trusts him, so I try put them both on my lap so Hexie sees how relaxed Freddie is and calms her nerves, but then Baby goes mental in the cage, squeaking and sprinting around (she is VERY dramatic)... I can't win hahaha!
Baby Hazel LOVES Freddie, she is always with him, follows him everywhere. Freddie has been really nice to her. She is learning his habits too.... Freddie often does this very big sniffing.... where he sticks his nose up high sniffing hoping to get some veggies! Freddie isn't a very loud/wheeky guinea pig, but he does like to show you he wants veggies by sniffing right next to the edge of the cage! I noticed baby Hazel doing this the other day too.... Freddie also has a spot he nibbles on on the correx in the cage when he is bored or wants attention or is generally displeased at the lack of treats, and she also has started copying this too... in the exact same place!
Baby Hazel and Hexie have been getting lots and lots of zoomies and popcorns which has been so cute to see, I like knowing they are happy! They are very noisy to one another as well, the noise in my living room has gotten remarkably louder since baby was born.
Good news as well, the suspected ringworm on Freddie was tested and found out to be bacterial, and has completely cleared up now with some antibiotic cream. The vet also asked if they could use the pictures in their teaching lessons with graduates... so Freddie and Hexie are set to become famous (well even more famous than they are on here hehe!).
Anyway that's enough from me! I will post some pictures in a mo![]()
