Hi, I have three piggies. I refill their hay rack whenever it starts running low and I just go buy more whenever I run out, but I figured I could probably save some time/money if I ordered hay to autoship in bulk. How much do you think 3 pigs would go through in a month?

Hi! Do you have room to keep a bunch of hay? If so, buy a bigger size of hay like a 10 or 25 pound box. I have two piggies and I buy 50 pounds of hay for them twice a year. I keep mine in the house in a bin under their house. It is a lot of hay, but it saves me a bunch of money.

I’m not sure how much. I would go off what yours eat in a month. Then buy double the amount. Once you start on the second bag/box, you can then order another. So there’s always enough.

It’s a bit trial and error when you start buying in bulk until you can find the balance between having enough so you aren’t buying it often and storage capacity. I have an automatic subscription for delivery and it took me a good couple of months to get it right and to not run out before the next order was due to dispatch!

I can’t bring myself to subscribe to haybox. I prefer to buy when I’m getting low. Otherwise I think I’d just be stressing about running out.

It's difficult at the beginning to find that balance when you're trying to work out how much you actually get through. I did have a few times when I realised what I had left wasn't going to make it to my next planned delivery, so I just amended my subscription to bring the date forward. I found a great balance in the end and I usually have a several kgs left as my next delivery is made. It does help I have the ability to store a lot of hay - I buy four 5kg boxes a month but usually still have part of one left (in use) at the point of delivery.

I know I really should subscribe to get the discount. 😬

If it’s any help I buy 15kg of hay on subscription from HayBox.
That lasts my 3 piggies about 5 - 6 weeks.

Not much help but I buy from Natures Own once a month .. I have 3 pigs and order 4 meadow hay and 2 smaller ones .. I order every pay day even if I have some left..
