I Am Losing All Faith In Humans

I have one of those cages but I only have one guinea-pig in it, no way would I put three in! I hate Dusty being in it but he's not very well, he's completely slowed down with old age and is really feeling his 5 years and 2 months. I can't imagine putting young, healthy animals in a cage that small. I know that I'm probably doing wrong in housing Dusty in a cage that small but, as I said, he's not doing good at the minute... I'm scared he's gonna die... :'(
 
Just saw that review as well, have reported the review asking it to be removed as it goes against the RSPCA minimum cage guidelines and new owners may not realise. Some people are so stupid!:mal:

I am sorry that Dusty is slowing down but you are doing nothing wrong housing him in that cage so please do not feel bad.

I have a XL dog crate that my pigs lived in for a few months when I had a poorly one as they lived outdoors at the time and I needed them to be inside. They now live indoors permanently and my poorly girl has since died but it was fine for a temporary solution.
 
Oh my gosh :mal: this doesn't really surprise me though, because I was advised in my local pet shop to get a smaller cage because it makes them feel more secure... what a load of rubbish! (I haven't gone back in there since)

Thank you Claire W, I'm just really paranoid about what people say on how much space a guinea-pig should have. I guess it is alright because he is how he is, poor little man. I love him so much <3

But 3 guinea-pigs, NO WAY!?
 
Okay, so I decided to report this too and added in a hint of criticism at they're animal care knowledge. Probably make no difference but I've added my input. Stupid woman 'PiggyLover' my backside - part of my comment "This woman is clearly not a 'PiggyLover' to treat her animals in such an abhorrent manner."

@WDMMBT you are great with your animal care, don't be so worried! x
 
Thanks @H&&Frank its just, after I saw that post I felt all guilty and worried so just wanted to check with the amazing people on here that it would be okay. He's lost a lot of weight and doesn't move much so he needs a cage where we can easily keep the nuggets next to the hay and water which his why he's in such a small one. Thanks guys x

Don't worry. You are an amazing owner and Dusty is perfectly fine in there :)
 
It's just so ridiculous, she thinks they're happier in it and actually advises others :evil: It's annoying because if you had no knowledge of small animals it actually sounds like she knows what she is talking about. Her guinea pigs were probably frightened because they have her as an owner!
 
I have also put a request to take this review down as it is giving people the wrong advice and effectively advocating animal cruelty by saying it's ok to cram them in to such a small cage. I think more people should complain to pets at home about this

Yep! Here here! Space is key for any animals well being. I have a thing about horses in fields! Acre per horse and an acre over! Today, 4 horses on a 3 acre field. I know it is 3 acres I used to own it.

I have reported the review too.
 
I Suppose in perfect world, they would not manufacture cages too small for animals there intended for, if they made Guinea cages only big enough for 2, and sold it as for 2, then the next size up was for 3, then 4 etc. It would not stop people over crowding, but at least they would have been informed.
