Aw no... sometimes these things all come at once. Hopefully it will all be plain-sailing soon. If your machine has gone wrong have you considered buying some VetBed or similar? You cut it to size - no machining required ;) You brush it down and wash it just as you would a fleece-quilt liner :) xx
it certainly has all come at once.. I might just have to use my super powers and get my machine sorted tonight, thought about vet bed for the sleeping bit, another issue as lots of wee in sleeping area... at least you lovely people on here are helpful & understand x

well, day two of the medicine.. Gladys seems to know the blue gloves mean medicine time... I thought it best to treat pippin also as she has some bald spots behind her ears but no mouldy ear like gladys.. i am hoping that will be ok? I am sure she has always had those baldy bits though :( shame the vet didn't look at her too....

Don't worry about the bald spots behind the ears, ALL piggies have these but they do indeed worry a lot of people at first xx

Thank you Critter ! I was starting to worry as I was 99% sure Pippin had Something that I had not spotted ! They seem ok, Gladys didn't like the spray and ear clean earlier, she made a little cry but not sure if that was because she was being held still.... So worrying but relieved about your comment !

Bald spots behind the ears are normal for guinea pigs. ;)

Just treat the bloom!

UPDATE * Well Gladys' ear is looking better. No other signs of anything on her body. No sign of anything on Pippin either .. Still waiting to hear back from the vets about the culture they took though. I have got some F10 ready to do the hutch but waiting to see if it is ringworm but will probably do it anyway as a precaution .. but not today as it is raining, bought the girlies in for a bit of family time cos they havent been in for a few days..

Update: no news on the culture. Vet just rang and said continue with the spray for another week.. taken photos earlier before and after applying the spray20150619_184548(1).webp

She does look cute. I was just wondering as it looks better in the other photos but that would be because of the spray. It does look like Ringworm to me unfortunately.

:( Oh no.. Pretty annoyed at the vets then as obviously she should've known that !

See what other people think though, as I have not seen Ringworm in the flesh so to speak, all the fungal issues mine have had have been Candida related mostly.

Thank you.. I just don't know what to do.. Imaverol myself or speak to the vets again ?

You could check with the vets, they may even have it in stock there, but if not I would order it anyway, it is more effective than the spray they have prescribed. You could ask them about Itrafungol too which is also in our guide and is an oral medication. You can buy it cheaper online but you need a prescription from the vets.

Just looked again and on some it looks like she has it and others it doesn't ! So can't be 100% sure..

If she has had it since then, then it may not be Ringworm as it would have spread a lot more by now. How long have you had them?

Lol don't ask the vets for any more meds! The stuff will probably cost you £50 again when you can get it for £24 or something like that... :P

We got them in May so not had them long at all and I can't see any other signs... I have looked at the info on the threads for what it looks like etc..

Lol this is true.. Was going to ask about using it then buy it online....

Hehe good idea! You could ask how much it would cost from them.. and see what they say... I really don't understand why they charged you so much for the spray if it's half the price on the net.

me neither, if they want people to go back, why rip them off so much ?

Rang the vets again today..cos I was stressing.. Spoke to a lovely vet nurse.. I have decided to carry on with the spray until next week and if no improvement / culture results then ordering some Imaverol ... Hope I am making the right decision ....

Noticed a bald ish patch on Gladys leg . Tried for ages to get a decent photo but she was moving to much !

Some of them do have bald patches on their inside legs.... but it would certainly be worth treating the area too just in case. Good luck with it. Hope the results come in soon.
