Hi guys thank you for looking at my question.

I am from the us and I got my 2 guinea pigs from petco which is like a pet store (dumb idea) but anyways, they only weigh around 200-250g so I am guessing they are only a month old. Well I noticed both sneeze on occasion and one has one eye that had crust around it, and the eye keeps closing, lik she can't keep it open fully. I went back to check on her and the crust is gone but still the eye is closing. Any thoughts? I'm thinking this is a beginning URI. Petco is reimbursing me for the vet visit I am going to on Tuesday. Do you think she will be okay until then? They are both eating and drinking fine.

The sooner you can have them seen the better, especially as they weight is that of a 3 week old baby just about old enough for weaning and separating, so their immune system is likely very likely not fully up and running yet. 5 days is very a long wait for either issue which ideally should be seen on the day or the next as they can both deteriorate very quickly. :(

Please keep a bowl of steaming water next to the cage to ease any breathing problems.

It sounds rather like a URI or possibly an eye infection/eye injury.

Thank you, I will see if I can get them in earlier. I did just put a hot humidifier near them. Do you think I could add lavender or peppermint essential oils to it?

No, please just use the plain steam! Guinea pigs have a far more sensitive and very small respiratory system than we humans. Essential oils and perfumes should not be used around them, nor should vicks; the latter contains substances that are harmful to guinea pigs.
