I'm so happy that Boris has full movement -that is the best outcome possible! Perhaps you have some hard wood that doesn't splinter for him to gnaw on?

hi all,
I just thought i would let you know about Boris's achievement today!
I had him out on the floor and i was laying down in front of him and silly enough i was baby talking to him and telling him to come closer to me.So he pulled his black leg up into walking position and was sticking his head out far trying to get closer and took a step he struggled like mad,his body was shaking because he was trying so hard on jelly legs.and then he collapsed after his big effort, but only a few minutes later he tried again and took one more stepi know its not huge progress but it was the highlight of all the hard work with him,he never ceases to amaze me,sadly his pink foot didnt move a bit but i think in time he may regain full use of the black one i am so proud of my boy

A hair dryer is great if Boris is unaffected by the sound of it. Some pigs freak out when you switch a dryer on, some couldn't care less. A good long snuggle in the towel is always good! Great idea with a hot water bottle too, or an animal heat pad.
Easiest way to do the therapy is probably to fill the bathtub with warm water - enough that he can stand up and not get his nose or mouth in it. Better to work with shallow water while he's still wobbly, you don't want him to struggle in slightly deeper water (where he would have to walk/stand/swim). Encourage him to walk about in it, feed him little bits of Pak Choi to help encourage him to walk towards you. Let him go for as long as he is happy and moving, around 5-10 minutes is good.
I did a form of swim/physiotherapy for one of my piggies a couple of years ago, he had been mutilating his own foot (bit all his nails off and bit his foot - we think due to nerve damage) and I held him upright in a bowl of water so he could flex and strengthen his toes and move his back legs around in it. It worked very quickly, just 3-5 minutes twice a day and there was noticeable improvement within just a few days, he got some strength and definition back in his toes.
You're doing a sterling job with him, I really hope he gets his strength and some normal function back very soon. x
