Hello!
Ive had this guinea pig for three years now, I thought our bond was made, he used to let me pet him, he would come after me, etc ... but now, he seems mad at me?
He doesn't let me touch him, he avoids me, he runs away from me... I am so confused, how do I know what i did wrong? :(
He is able of free roaming with my other guinea pig (i have 3, but one is apart from them bc of his temper), so he has enough space, he has hay, his two salads, his pellets, i am a sweet person i dont make loud noises, i dont force them to cuddle with me, i spend lots of time with them bc i work from home, so I wonder, why is he so mad at me out of nowhere? and what can i do? i miss my sweet boy :((

It’s quite normal for piggies to not want to be held or touched. He probably isn’t mad at you. As they become comfortable, they are more likely to let you know that they don’t like being touched.

The third piggy who is separate also does not have a temper as such. If all three of the piggies are boys, then that is why he cannot live with them - you cannot keep three male piggies together as they cannot form a functioning hierarchy and relationship. Only two male piggies can be kept together successfully. So, he doesn’t have a temper, he is simply doing what is normal for male piggies and saying he isnt able to form a bond with two other male piggies.

I’m sure he’s not mad with you. He’s either telling you that he doesn’t like you petting him anymore or he could be in pain somewhere. If there was a sudden change in my piggies behaviour I would be thinking of illness first. Is his weight stable? Have you noticed any other issues? When one of my piggies made mites he didn’t like me touching him. But he’s ok now. Keep an eye on him.

If there was any sudden change in temperament of in one of my piggies, I'd be straight to the vet to rule out any pain anywhere or a mite infestation. Can you take yours to the vet?

i completely understand that, but he completely changed his personality with me, I have had him for more than 3 years now, and out of nowhere he just doesn't like me so much anymore... since I asked this there's not been an actual change so I just assumed maybe he just isn't comfy with me anymore and its okay!

and about the temper one, noo believe me, he does 😭, this is why I got a third one to give company to the other one, because he used to fight a lot and its just not good for any of them, so the vet recommended me to just separate them! I have to neuter him and try again, but I understand its not very common to see a group of 3, you are right there
