Thought it was about time I posted a pic or two of my current piggies (long overdue). So here we go! Dori (pronounced Dorrie) is the chunky piggy who’s been with me from a baby, she turned 4 in April - really don’t know how that’s gone so fast! She’s my top lady and doesn’t stand for any nonsense from anypig and takes eating very seriously indeed - she knows she can’t maintain her curves without lots and lots of food 😊

Next, we have Meggie, or Meggiemoo, or Meggiemoomie or sometimes just Meg. I’ve had her for just over 2 years now, it was her second gotcha day a few days ago. She’s a very sweet girl, and will allow me slightly longer cuddles than Dori, but not by much 😉; she also loves her food - but has a particular love of veggies and even Dori has learned to be careful around her when it’s veggie time! It’s about the only time Meggie will make it clear that the veggies actually are only for her, not to be shared in general! IMG_2573.webp

Finally, the piggy that some of you will have already seen is my latest addition, Selwyn. He’s an 11 month old neutered boar, my first one ever, who lived alongside the girls for 4 weeks, until his 6 week post op period was completed. I thought he’d slotted into second place after Dori in the hierarchy, but am seeing Meg telling him off more just lately, and he does listen too, so not quite sure really. It’s nice having a young chatty piggy again, who loves to rumble, zoom and popcorn 🥰. He’s got the hang of getting in the cosy to be transported to the floor time pen, but only when he feels like it! 😂. He wouldn’t touch peppers before, but now he’s seen the girls devour them, he’ll eat them too - but only the yellow and orange ones! IMG_2908.webp

He's gorgeous 🥰

Well it’s off to the vets today with Meggie. She’s been off colour the last few days and having weighed her yesterday and today she’s dropped by 51g in 24 hours 😢. When she doesn’t want her CC or cucumber, something is definitely not right.

Back home now with metaclopramide for gas. Vet wants a wee sample to rule out bacterial infection (successfully obtained) and instructions to withhold veggies for a day or two, give additional water and continue with her regular IC meds. She took 6ml of water straight away - don’t know if that’s normal or a lot.

Hope Meggie recovers now.
Glad you were able to get her to the vet so promptly.

Hope she’s soon feeling better. ❤️
Thank you, I hope so too. Second dose of metaclop is going to be soon and also hoping it’s not another battle to get the CC down her tonight.

She took 2 small mouthfuls of CC by herself but wasn’t really interested in any more. I didn’t want to stress her out even more after going through a vet visit/scan earlier yesterday so just managed to get another couple of mouthfuls down her without too much protest. There was a lot of sludge in her bladder too, which obviously isn’t helping her comfort levels 😔. Vets have sent urine sample off to the lab today and have sent scans/x-ray off to my normal vet (who is in again Tuesday). Meggie lost another 25g overnight too. Should hear back about urine sample early next week whether she needs any specific antibiotics.

I hope the results comeback quickly and the necessary medication can be started. Sending healing vibes.

My precious Meggie was put to sleep on 26 January, almost a month ago and I still haven’t written a tribute to her. Words seem inadequate somehow and I still miss her so much. Every single time I’ve had to make that decision it’s always been very difficult; but with her it was even more so somehow. She was so so special.

I just wanted to update this thread, as it’s been a little while and I’m not one for taking lots of photos, but here’s one I took a few days ago of Dori and Selwyn, who have settled very nicely into being a pair now.

Lovely that Dori and Selwyn are a happy duo ❤️
I agree about maintaining those lovely curves Dori ….keep eating
( that’s what I do 😂)

It takes time to grieve and Maggie was a very special girl.
Sometimes there are no words .
Hugs 🤗
So sorry for your loss

I am sorry you had to make the decision to help Meggie to reunite with her friends at the bridge. It's such a heartwrenching time, even though we know it's the best one for them. She will be forever with you in your heart. Sending hugs x
Rest with your old friends at the peaceful bridge Meggie 🌈
