Little unwell, likely dental. Been given fluids.

@furryfriends (TEAS) that's a good point... I'm starting to think my house must dampen the ardour of boars as we've never had any 'male' problems so to speak!

I shown Simon what I had removed from Monty's penis and said what do you think this is? Simon looked at what I was showing him in a plastic bag and replied 'a beansprout'. I said I really don't think you would want to be eating it! 😂

Thank you @furryfriends (TEAS) and @Free Ranger
I think we will wait until tomorrow, what a nightmare his has been 😔 I will feel a lot better once he’s been seen by Simon, even if Simon gives him the all clear or even just antibiotics for cystitis. I really hope we manage to bag one of the appointments!

Thinking of you both, try to bag an appointment with Simon, like me you have good reason to trust his judgement x

Glad he’s still got an appetite for grass that’s a good thing! My boy has interstitial cystitis and so far it hasn’t effected him to the point where he’s stopped eating and drinking (when he’s having a flare up it seems that he’s drinking a lot more than usual, almost like he knows he needs to flush his bladder). But I’m still learning so don’t quote me on it. It depends about what cystitis it is, if it’s interstitial they don’t normally prescribe an antibiotic as it doesn’t react to an antibiotic it’s just cystease and cartrophen injections for my boy. Have you tried mixing in some pro-c powder from p@h to the syringe water? My boys go mad for it so might be worth trying?

I’m glad he still has an appetite for grass.
When my late Erin had a wet tummy and was leaking urine, she had sludge in her bladder and a bad uti.
I so hope you can bag an appointment tomorrow with Simon x

One of my rainbow bridge piggies, Peanut, had interstitial cystitis and was on long term metacam (not that it did a great deal though) and cystease. That’s why I doubted whether it was cystitis with Little as Peanut ate and drank perfectly. It was obvious when Peanut was having a hard time, he would stand there and squeak loudly as his pee came out in slow drops. So it’s a bit different from Little but then Peanut’s was interstitial cystitis and Little is said to have regular cystitis.
We don’t have any pro-c powder unfortunately. The vet did tell me to add some cranberry juice to Little’s water to make it taste sweeter so he’ll want to drink more of it but I know that’s not a great idea. He’ll mostly have the syringe water okay, but he doesn’t want as much as I’d like him to have. He just won’t touch his water bottle. We’ve got a ferplast sippy bottle and a regular bottle in but he won’t touch either. We don’t have a water dish in because when we’ve offered it in the past, he doesn’t know what to do with it and since he’s blind sometimes he can be a bit clumsy so I don’t want him tripping in it! We’re going to offer him a decent amount of cucumber today though to try and keep his water intake up.

Thanks everyone for the support. Will update tomorrow on if I manage to get an appointment. Today was a better day for Little. He’s not properly eating hay but I’ve seen him eat a few strands here and there. He’s also drank out of his water bottle twice but only if I hold it for him, not if it’s attached to the cage. He’s eaten some readigrass today too. We’re feeling a lot more positive, thinking maybe it is a UTI or cystitis and just will need antibiotics. We just have to wait and see. Just checked under his vet bed:

A big puddle of wee! We’ve been giving him a lot of water and cucumber today so I’m really happy to see it’s made it out of his system easily enough.
We’ll see what tomorrow brings, hopefully it’s something easily sorted like just needing antibiotics and maybe it was all connected to his bladder. We upped his metacam last night to 0.6ml so that could be why he’s doing better today compared to Friday (no pain relief until late in the evening) and yesterday (0.4ml x2 a day).
He definitely seems a lot happier in himself today which is a relief because as you all know I was really panicked yesterday and Friday!

Thank you everyone :) he wasn’t doing as well last night, didn’t want any grass or water and didn’t want to move out of his bed. I took him out of it once but he went straight back in. He was there from 1 until half 7 when we started with his syringe food. So I was worried sick all night.

Anyway, the good news is that we have an 11:10 appointment with Simon :yahoo:

Update: things have gone better than we could’ve thought. Simon had a good feel of Little’s mouth/jaw and couldn’t feel anything. He also felt for any stones everywhere he could and said it felt clear. The X-ray we had done at another vets wasn’t sent through even though we’d called a few times about it. Simon didn’t see the point in doing another conscious X-ray as he doesn’t think you can properly get the right angles to check for stones.
Anyway, Simon doesn’t think it’s a UTI or even cystitis really. The problem is that Little is holding in his wee for as long as he possibly can. He said that the bladder was really really full and he applied a bit of pressure and that’s when pee came out. He said he managed to get a good stream going and cleared out the bladder but there isn’t a blockage, it’s just the fact that Little is holding his wee which is what is putting him off eating and drinking. Simon doesn’t understand why he’s doing it but said to carry on with the metacam. If things haven’t improved in a week then Simon will send some antibiotics over to a vet near us for us to try. He also said he’d call me if he needs to once the X-ray comes through. He then said that if the antibiotics don’t clear it, to come back and have Little sedated and a proper X-ray be done.
He also mentioned that the lump I felt could’ve been from the scent gland which can be quite lumpy.
So what we need to do for now is to keep giving him lots of fluids and watery veg to flush the bladder and hopefully get Little to want to pee again.
I’m glad the news was more positive and that Simon isn’t overly concerned as of yet. It really is reassuring to know that nothing has been missed because Simon knows what he’s doing. It’s just a bit of a mystery as to why Little isn’t too keen on peeing at the minute - this is also why it smells so bad too!

I’m glad it’s none of those things. Hopefully he will start peeing normally and the painkiller helps.

Aw you must feel so much better now Simon has had a good look at Little, let’s hope he decides having on to his pee is not a good idea 😃 Glad it went well x

Thank you all, fingers crossed it sorts itself out on its own. I feel silly now for being so worried! But he wasn’t eat or drinking for himself and wasn’t peeing normally which are all worrying in themselves, especially given Little’s abscess history. Given those things, this is the best outcome we could’ve hoped for. Hopefully he also decides to eat by himself soon too so I don’t have to carry on getting up every 2 hours in the night to feed him!

Don’t ever feel silly, you know when your babies aren’t right and it is a massive worry (speaking from experience of course! 🤦‍♀️), especially when you’ve been through as much as you and your boy have! So glad Simon’s happy with him and hope he starts munching and peeing properly again x Massive hugs to you and loads of love and healing vibes to gorgeous Little xx
