Meet Edamame šŸ˜

I was baking some bread and forgot to give the boys their hay & readigrass, which meant it was two hours late. Eddie was NOT happy šŸ˜‚ Heā€™s smart, he picked up on the fact that veggies happen right after the evening dog walk. He starts wheeking as soon as OH grabs the harness!

Eddie did think about making an official report, but he didnā€™t want to disturb Miss Bramble while sheā€™s on leave and grieving ā¤ļø he will have it waiting on her desk for when she returns though!

Theyā€™ve each picked a new nap spot in the cage while I wash the favourite rainbow hidey

Tofu has lost a bit more of his eyesight (he has known masses in his eyes that are monitored by the vet). Iā€™m being more careful with keeping the cage layout roughly the same, not that he seems too bothered by it, just more cautious. Took him a while to figure out where the pellets were this morning. One good thing: he canā€™t do his usual trick of closing his eyes right when Iā€™m squeezing his eye drops in šŸ˜‚

It is nice to hear about other piggies who coped fine with it. Iā€™m not sure Iā€™d even notice with Tofu if he wasnā€™t syringed meds twice a day - he canā€™t see them coming and has to sniff his way or be guided to them. He seems absolutely fine in the cage though - just doesnā€™t go exploring like he used to when Iā€™m cleaning out and moving everything around, and it takes him longer to find the food when Iā€™m hand feeding

Heā€™s a little gentleman who licks me to say thank you whenever I guide him to the food. I have a very soft spot for him ā¤ļø

The Every Beautiful Betsy šŸŒˆ was as blind as a bat as she got older. Her devoted Husboar Cutey Pie Dennis šŸŒˆ was her guide piggy. So I didn't surprise her when I picked her up, I would tap the floor beside her so she could hear I was there. She coped very well not being able to see. She found the transition between seeing and not seeing the most difficult which is when Dennis stepped in.

That must have been so lovely to see. What a perfect pair ā¤ļø I think Tofu is adjusting to losing some sight out of his left eye as well as his right (which heā€™s had problems with for over a year). Itā€™s a bit of a transition. I like the tapping the ground so they know youā€™re nearby!

Eddie got a rumble lesson from Tofu this morning. At first I couldnā€™t tell if they were arguing, because they were sitting facing each other having a rumble-off but no chasing or kicking out of spots. Then I realised Tofu would rumble, Ed would copy him, then Tofu again, then Edā€¦ Tofu teaching him how to rumble and providing corrections šŸ˜‚šŸ˜

Ed is growing up fast. I wonā€™t be surprised if he takes over as boss pig once he hits his teens. Heā€™s ten weeks old today!

Rainbow fleece is very popular with the boys (and the humans) here! I like having some in when Iā€™m making beds for them

It is nice they like to stay close. Eddie is showing signs of dominance, now heā€™s rumbling and chasing, but he very much still runs to hide behind Tofu if something spooks him

Eddieā€™s 11 weeks old today but I swear heā€™s already started his teens šŸ˜… had a bit of a fright this morning - they were bickering over morning cage clean and it escalated to loud teeth chattering and then Eddie flew at Tofu

Checked them both over, no bite wounds. Itā€™s calmed down for the most part and they ate their pellets together, but thereā€™s still the odd teeth chatter. Keeping a close eye on them in case I need to separate

Been a while since I had teen boars! šŸ˜…šŸ˜… weā€™ve been talking about getting Eddie neutered once heā€™s big enough, so weā€™ll have an easier time bonding him once Tofu has passed on (I hate thinking about that, but needs must. Especially as Eddie could be in the height of his teens then due to their age gap)

This was them five minutes later lol. Butter wouldnā€™t meltā€¦

No more bickering since this morning, and theyā€™ve been washing faces and napping together. So Iā€™m not too worried (for nowā€¦ weā€™ll see what happens when Ed gets into his teens properly!)

Thank you šŸ˜Š I think part of the problem is Tofu isnā€™t feeling very well. Heā€™s been having an arthritis flare, I put his meds up last week but it hasnā€™t helped so heā€™s off to the vet tomorrow. Heā€™s grumpy and more irritable than normal so I think heā€™s snapping at Eddie more

Thereā€™s been no more tension, and Eddie is backing down now. Will see how the vet goes tomorrow šŸ¤ž theyā€™ll be okay together

Thank you everyone for the well wishes šŸ˜ weā€™re home from the vet now with no drama and the boys are sharing a hay pile

Tofuā€™s got to go on baytril for a bit, which he hates šŸ˜” Iā€™ll be rewarding with lots of his favourite coriander. Iā€™ll keep details to his thread in the health section to avoid clutter but he might have a bit of a UTI brewing so weā€™re being safe and treating just in case. I am a bit anxious after losing both Noodle & Patches to urinary problems in the last year

Eddie got to say hi to the vet again. She said heā€™s much bigger already! Heā€™s over 600g now and thinks he rules over the house haha. We let him because heā€™s so cute
