Minnou’s piggies

Been taking advantage of all the decent weather we've had and the girls have been out in the garden every day.

I let their corner of the garden get overgrown so they can pretend to be wild things. They don't get enthused by being wild things though and quickly get fed up and run to me when they see me to let me know they want to be back in the house.

So I go to pick them up and Minerva comes and sits by my foot and waits to be carried off. Gaia screams and runs and has me chase her for 15 minutes. Then, once they're back inside their cage, they purr then they gallop around it like they haven't just come from a very large, open space they could've run around like idiots in. 🙄

That’s guinea pigs 🥰

Shaved Gaia to the point she is more short-coated than Minerva. She has been popcorning and running about more than usual so I guess she is happy with it.

They've been having floor time outside every day this week until today when I kept them in because it kept trying to rain. It was a bit of a novelty being back indoors and being able to climb up people's legs and harass them for snacks. They only thing they'd missed really... And Minerva had to check for potatoes again... 🙄

Earlier, they both panicked at nothing and ran into their tunnel at the same time and were wedged in it together and cried over it. Somehow, chubby Gaia managed to wriggle out of it first so at least I didn't have to cut them free. 😂

I thought Gaia was either very comfortable, or, being a poser when I saw her laid down with her paws crossed in front of her.

Turns out one of the paws was a poop.

She was resting with one paw covering that poop like a dragon coveting its gold. And I need new glasses apparently.

Oh I know! Gaia either covers them with her paws or her body. Minerva is willing to let the poops go but she must carefully inspect each one in my hand or the dustpan before I throw it out. 🙄

The usually honoured guest is no longer considered welcome after opening the fridge and failing to provide the girls with snacks (she usually gives them something).

So they both had a meltdown, running around, wheeking and searching high and low for the snacks which they were owed.

In I went, apologizing to the little darlings telling them 'don't worry; mammy will get you something' and gave them a piece of apple each. All I got in return was a teeth-chattering before they snatched the goods and legged it. 🙄

Just accidentally french-kissed Minerva when I gave her a few little pecks on the nose and at the same time, she decided it was licking time and licked my top lip and at least some of her tongue was inside my mouth. 😂
We need a thread where we quote posts like this 🤣

Gaia: 'I am sure no-pig will be surprised to hear that yet again, the Slave has wronged me! Today she had the audacity to sit me on her lap and gently pet me again! Once released from her hooman paws, I ran underneath the cabinet in the hall and refused to come out for hours. I had her bring me snacks. It was quite pleasant under there.'

Gaia: 'I complained most of the time and made a charge at the Slave's face but she didn't take the hint. I was about to pee on her chest but I think she realised what I was about to do and that's why she let me go. I didn't think Slaves had any brains at all!'

I managed to upset Minerva - a rarity.

I decided to make them work for their veggies and placed them on top of a box which they could either hop on top of or stand up and reach out and grab them. Gaia knew what I'd done with the snacks and was straight there. Minerva must've thought I'd put the food in and then immediately snatched it away as she wasn't looking for it - instead she was stood at the side of the cage, full on glaring at me. She looked she she wanted to rip my throat out! And then she chattered her teeth at me until I plonked some of the veg right in front of her nose. 😂

Poor Min-Min scared herself, I think.

She was making weird crackly noises, which usually happens after she has been hay-diving and presumably she gets something stuck in her nostrils or the back of her throat. A good cough or sneeze usually clears it right up. So I gave them their grass and went off to do something until I could hear the distinct sound of 'guinea-pig charging round the cage'.

So I go have a look and there's Minerva, running around. But something felt off about it; she does like to run around but not when she has just been handed fresh grass, and, there was no popcorning. So I hurried over to have a closer look and she was just frantically running around and trying to burrow under the hay. Even Gaia seemed concerned as she stopped eating and went to check on her. Then Minerva did a massive cough... then immediately, calmly started eating grass. Crackling noises now gone.

I'm assuming whatever she had stuck was maybe affecting her breathing or causing her pain and she panicked but she's fine now. No doubt she'll be back hay-diving in a hour or two.

My niece and nephew were over yesterday - probably the girl's least favourite people because of the amount of noise they make - so Gaia spent most of the day in her bedroom, sulking. Minerva decided to tough it out outside of the hideys and mostly spent her time standing around looking disgruntled. Definitely had her grumpy old man face on.

The youngest asked if the guinea pigs could come out/could he hold them so I sat Minerva on his lap and he immediately said 'Put it back' and I added Gaia to his lap instead and he laughed then said 'Put them back' quite seriously. 😂

Minerva: 'It....?'

Gaia: *grumbling* 'The nerve of these Slaves... and I didn't even want to be held! You disturbed me for this?' *re-enters bedroom, slams imaginary door*

Gave me nephew some carrot to give to them and they both flew back out of hiding. Minerva took hers gently, as usual. Gaia snatched, as usual.

After the kids went home, the girls had their floortime and the were running about all over the place, sniffing and making sure the valuables hadn't been taken (you know, things like the potatoes).

Heard a guinea pig performing mega-wheeks so I jumped up and ran from the living room to the kitchen to find Minerva stood screaming in front of the bin.

I asked her what was wrong/what she wanted and she bumbled off, muttering the entire time, before sitting next to Gaia in the back room.

I went back to the living room and it wasn't long before I heard Minerva scampering along. I watched her sniff shoes in the hallway before she scuttled off back to the back room again. Decided to see what she was up to. Found her settled on the floor, looking to have a nap.

Her day's work done, I guess.
