Mouth Scabs?

My moms male guinea pig has scabs on his mouth. I haven't been over in a while and stopped by today. Of course first thing I had to do was say hi to him and this is what I noticed. This is something of concern correct? Just want to make sure because I did tell her to take him in. Just looking for verification. Thanks in advanced!

Hi. That looks very much like chelitis. It is sometimes caused by feeding too many acidic foods such as Apple and tomato but not always.

He will need to see a vet for a proper diagnosis and the appropriate treatment x

I agree - see a vet promply for cheilitis (bacterial or fungal lip infection). Cut out all fruit and tomatoes from the diet.

I agree, too. Looks like cheilitis and will need a vet to confirm and prescribe treatment. Poor little chap - that looks sore. Hopefully it will soon clear up with the correct treatment
